The End Zone

This was a short story about a romance that happened within a blank of an eye. It went from Sage and Jolie as children in the first couple of pages to them being roommates in college. It didn\’t give me a reason why they became best friends and why either one of them are set in their ways. As the story continues, we find out Sage is a man whore who slept with every female on campus and Jolie knows this. She fantasizes about being with Sage despite knowing this. To make a long post even shorter, Sage suddenly has a wake up call and wants to only be with Jolie after she\’s interested in his teammate. Jolie gives in and then they live happily ever after.

I swear to all that is holy L.J. Shen can not write a bad story. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING she writes is reader crack, and I am still suffering from this book high! Youre in my blood, in my veins, in my f****** soul. Youre in my heart and in my fingertips and on my f****** lips like a prayer. Youre f***** everywhere, Jolie Louis. Always have been, always will be. This novella had so much packed into so few pages. I loved the push and pull between Sage and Jolie. You could feel the connection between the two. The friendship and the love. They had a great backstory and an even better present. Sage was such a great character for me. I loved how flawed he was. And what intrigued me even more was the fact that he knew it and just did not give a f***. Jolie was the perfect girl to compliment him, she accepted his faults and still loved him no matter what. I can not stress enough how great this novella was!

4.5 stars Before starting this, I should preface this by saying this is a novella. I was so excited to start reading this, that fact just kind of blew over my head. It was originally a part of The Team Player Anthology. Now, with that out of the way, The End Zone was incredibly good. Not that I ever had any doubts, because it was Leigh Shen, but sometimes you never know. The End Zone is a sexy friend to lovers romance with a smattering of fake relationship thrown in. All around, WIN WIN WIN!! Leigh knows how to write about sexy, brooding male heroes and this one is no exception. Sage and Jolie (JoJo) have known each other since they were kids (about ten years old), when Sage moved into the house next door to Jolie. Night after night, Jolie saw a boy her age frustrated, angry and sad with his surroundings. One night, she couldnt stand to see him in pain anymore and decided to run to him. That is the beginning of their story. And on the eighth night, the girl gave the boy more than friendship and a hug, without even meaning toand definitely without agreeing to. On the eighth night, the girl gave the boy her heart. He took it silently, never offering his back. Present day, Sage and Jolie are seniors in college. Sage is a brooding, cocky, know it all manwhore. He is the rising quarterback that is headed off to the NFL, but where does his relationship with Jolie go? Jolie is a studious, super sweet girl that has been harboring feelings for her best friend. Things change on one fateful night that involves Jolie and a bathroom and a lightbulb moment in Sages head. This book, even as a novella, is everything. I loved that interaction between Sage and Jolie, from friendship at the beginning to more. I would LOVE more of these two, but given that its written by Leigh, I would always want more. There friends to lovers romance is written extremely well, although slightly fast paced. This is strictly due to the nature of the book, a novella. There are SO many goodies in this book, that I cant talk about, but will say we get multiple HEA epilogues and not necessarily all concerning Sage and Jolie. Do yourself a favor and pick this hot, spicy, funny and sweet little read up. There are so many great hilarious quotes in this book it will have you chuckling! Leigh Shen does not disappoint. He is the kid I fell in love with at the age of ten, and the man I would give the world to at the age of twenty. Some more memorable quotes: If he were any other guy, Id be all over him like a rash after a torrid Vegas vacation. considering how Sages dick has been passed around like community property. Im surprised hes not partly funded by the government.

I highly recommend The End Zone. L.J. Shen is one of my favorite authors because she creates great worlds with wonderful characters that are well rounded. I love how her stories ends with a HEA but the journey there is always complex and The End Zone is all of that and more. The End Zone is a little shorter than most of her books but it still told an excellent story of two children who were best friends and turned into lovers. There are twists and turns and one big secret that came out of left field and I for one am glad that it didnt end Jolie and Sage. There were a lots of heat and chemistry between Sage and Jolie. I have to say that I read so much I dont always have a book friend but I think Sage could really totally be mine . The End Zone will have you laughing, a little sad, and so many other emotions so be prepared. In other words if you are reading at night next to your spouse and laugh out loud you can potentially wake them which they will not appreciate…true story The narrators did an excellent with their tone, speed, and emotion they conveyed while telling the story of Jolie and Sage. Their voices were perfect for the characters and there was enough of a difference in how they changed their voices for the different characters. It is important so as not to confuse listeners on who is speaking. I listened and read parts of the story as I had the ebook and audiobook so am leaving a review for both formats. The ebook had an extended epilogue that I had to laugh and I loved it! so for readers it is definitely worth reading it but if you have the option I would suggest getting both as you can trade off seamlessly. Hope you love the story whether you are reading it or listening to it.

3.7 stars!! It was a short and enjoyable story! I must say I didn\’t like the reason why Sage finally realised who is the one for him. Sage was often too much all his past sexual history like a no! And don\’t get me wrong I love man whores who finally change for the only girl they want, but here been a 10 years of knowing each other and deep friendships and this SUDDEN revolution hmmmm not really but… But other than that I loved their banter! The sense of humour and a great sex even if in my opinion he should work more for that but she was in love with him since forever so I can\’t hold it agains Jolie!! L.J. Shen is one of my favourite authors and her books always do something to me – something devastating and magical at the same time! This one wasn\’t magical, didn\’t blow me away to become my favourite (well V will be always my fave!), but I definitely liked it and loved the extended epilogue! It was funny as hell!! PS: Vicious extra epilogue was a great gift! Loved to see a piece of their life after being together for years and their son plus can\’t wait for the off spin series with him included!
