I’m so confused as to how this book got such rave reviews. It’s not the worst but it’s soooo one dimensional.

The characters had zero depth Delaney was a “nerd” but only ever referenced Star Wars.. That is not a nerd make. Also a true nerd wouldn’t make geek tshirts into halter tops…it was the poorest excuse for a “nerd” and it was obviously just a way to make Delaney have some more character but it was so flat. Also I couldn’t stand Delaney’s “who me?” befuddled attitute. Like come on girl, (SPOILER) you’re telling Mav one minute you’re wearing a skirt for easy access and then he asks you into the bathroom and you respond, “why””. Not to mention how sad she would get when Mav had to leave her TO TAKE CARE OF HIS SPECIAL NEEDS SISTER. Delaney truly made this story insufferable for me. While the story wasn’t the worst, SHE WAS THE WORST! I seriously could go on…

I feel like Mav had a little more story..he was a little more well rounded. I liked him. However, why did he like Delaney so much? What made him try to get her attention for years? There was no slow burn, it was just…bland. I felt ZERO connection.

I really wanted to like this story but I couldn’t get there…not even close. DNF…or could not finish is more like it.

Where did o read this story before? Oh yeah, Dirty English. The more I read, the more the characters were similar. I am very sorry I purchased this book. Not worth its kindle value.

I Dare You audiobook by Ilsa Madden-Mills

“Legend says the first person you kiss at the party is the one you’ll never forget. It might be years later, and still their face is the one you dream about.”

Could this first kiss be the start of something good? Or just a trainwreck waiting to happen?

“Mr. Tall, Blond and Football” (aka Maverick) is what you are always hoping for when it comes to those football player characters. He’s kind of full of himself, rightfully so, but also tall, good looking, way talented, uber caring and also quite intelligent, which puts him a step above the average athlete. He doesn’t always let you see his many talents, but tends to cover it up with kind of juvenile convos to the ladies.

“If I stood in the romance section, I’d never make it out alive. I’m already irresistible, but put Twilight in my hands and girls will piss themselves.”

Then we have Delaney. I would call her a smart introvert. She’s got the nerdy chic thing going on with her looks, but she can definitely hold her own when it comes to athletes that think they are the best. She’s already dated one and has now sworn off all football players because of his actions with a person that she absolutely despises. But get these two in a room together and their chemistry seems to explode.

….”Two stars in the sky, two souls destined to be together.”

I really liked these two characters and the way the story developed. Delaney’s ex was handled in a way that I think could have brought more interesting conflict, but I guess that’s not what the author needed. The setting and the conflict for Maverick really worked and pulled the audience in and touched on some subjects that many college athletes have to deal with. Delaney I just adored. I like when we get female characters that aren’t weak. They are strong and know their worth and do things that are just plain perfect. She was funny, smart, talented and went after what she wanted and supported the people she cared about most.
Overall, this was a sweet and simple sort of college sport romance with a little hurdle for our Hero to overcome. The story is low on angst (besides the horrible history with Maverick’s family), heavy on the nerd humor and full of fun and witty banter (by text and in person). I felt the ending went by a little too quickly, but it still flowed well. A quick read that was enjoyable and well-written. A great “weekend/beach read”.

Way too short. To stop a book a 50% and then add an old book of yours is WRONG!

I could not put this book down!!

Once I started I was hooked. This was a fun sexy read. With a bit of an emotional twist. I loved the dynamic between Delaney and Maverick. Nerdy girl meets jock. I loved Delaney’s awkwardness and quirkiness. And even though Maverick is a jock. Never judge a book by it’s cover. This was a great read. I DARE YOU TO READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!
