Say No More (Romantic Suspense #24)

I have never given a Karen Rose book less than 4 stars. Proof positive that an awful narrator can ruin a truly good book. Why oh why did they use this terrible narrator after all the negative reviews he got for the last book? The only reason I am still listening is because the story is so very good. If the next book in the Sacramento series has the same narrator I won\’t be getting it in audio. I\’ll wait and check it out from the library. I won\’t put myself through this torture again.

Another great addition to this series. Really liked both of the main characters, the storyline, everything, and am looking forward to Tom\’s story. That being said, can we please get either a new narrator or get a female narrator in for the female characters\’ voices? Joel is not a bad reader/actor, but he just seems unable to nail the female voices. They all either sound like they are ninety years old, or as if they are being strangled and have no air in their lungs. It really detracts from what would normally be a five star book for me. Five stars fir me means a book I like well enough to want to own, because I will listen to it again. My other books from this series, I listen to at least once a year. I have not been able to do that with the book I bought last year, because the narrator just kills the female characters for me. Not sure I will go for another audio in this series if it\’s the same narrator on the next book.

It took me a long time to get through this book because I had to limit the amount of time I was able to tolerate narrator Joel Froomkins ACTING before my anxiety level went soaring. This man doesnt seem to have an inside voice, much less a dimmer switch. He shouts, he whimpers, he EMOTES. Every line of dialog is supercharged with FEELINGS. It was EXHAUSTING! I wish whoever makes casting decisions would go back to any of the female narrators who did such great work with Ms Roses previous books. I look forward to the one book a year from Karen Rose. What a sad thing it is for me to not enjoy it when Im predisposed to love it.

as with the 1st book – did not like the reader\’s voice. a bad choice!

I can\’t believe I made it through this one. The narrator was just as bad as the first go around and the story was exactly the same as the first. The subject matter is so interesting that I really wanted it to be better. the sex scenes were awful, just a warning!
