One night recently I stumbled upon some online movies of Corey talking and I thought to myself… geez I remember when Slipknot was just starting to come around and then when they got obscenely popular. This was back when I dyed my hair freaky colors and went through this phase of wearing crazy clothes. And I was like wow I guess we all grow up to look pretty normal looking at the end of the day. But then I thought geez he’s way more well spoken than I would have thought. And way more musically diverse. At some point I completely stopped paying attention to who is in what band. And other than 15 year old magazine articles I couldn’t have ever told you who was in Slipknot.
At the end of the day I bought this book because Corey is reasonably well spoken and having read a few autobiographies documenting the rock life and the tragic childhoods of all the people I read about I wanted something different. I wanted to see what was rattling around in that head of his. His thoughts on stuff instead of a woe is me tale of why it sucks to be a rock star or lets tally how many people I’ve slept with. And that’s what I got with this book.

Audiobook Seven Deadly Sins by Nelson Johnson
This book is so raw, hilarious and tells the ridiculous story of the talented and clever lyricist Corey Taylor and how he came to be. Great book for the maggots in your life and yourself.

Audio Seven Deadly Sins narrated by Joe Mantegna
I’ve been a huge of Slipknot and Stone Sour since i was a kid. I remember this book coming out when i read about it being released in Kerrang magazine.
At thr time I couldn’t get my hands on it.
Came across it whilst browsing as you do and thought. You know what. I’m going to give that a go.
It’s the ONLY book I have ever read which I have not finished. I genuinely thought it was awful. And my teenage self was gutted.
I don’t know whether I’m just too old now for the stuff he was trying spew back then and it would have made more sense to me back then. But i genuinely thought it was waffley crap.

So it’s definitely not an autobiography as such so If this is what you are expecting I would say to give this a miss. Corey does draw on a few experiences (some a little disturbing) to support his theories on the seven deadly sins and his views on life in general. I enjoyed reading this and have a new found respect for Corey as he is honestly a very intelligent man and has a wicked sense of humour too! I found myself chuckling out loud at times and quite shocked at others. All in all, I recommend.
