I originally purchased this book several years ago, and for some reason, I never read it. Then I found it a few months ago and decided to pick it up again. I read the entire thing in less than two hours and was hooked! I immediately purchased the other two and finished the series within three days! I don’t know why I never picked it up before now; my guess was I was probably too young to comprehend it when it was purchased most likely. I love the author’s writing style and the idea about the main character being able to read the horse’s thoughts! Add in the extra about the horse showing/riding and I am hooked! A must read for any horse lover!!

Plot: There was a lot going on in this book. The main mystery was interesting, but there were a lot of questions that never got resolved. The plot was entertaining in a ridiculous, soap opera kind of way. I did feel like the resolution of the mystery was a bit rushed and didn’t necessarily make the most sense.
Characters: I wanted to like Vivienne. Her ability to communicate with horses was cool, and she really loved the animals. But I just couldn’t make myself like her. Overall I felt like the characterization of most of the characters was inconsistent. Martina was the only character I really liked.
Overall: The writing style was what really kept me from enjoying this book. I had a big issue with the fact that Vivienne’s chapters were in 1st person while Riley and Tristan’s chapters were in 3rd person – it made the transition between chapters really jarring. I also felt like the writing style was very stilted and more suited to a children’s chapter book – but the content of this book was definitely for teenagers, not kids. The crazy plot was entertaining, but the writing kept me from really engaging with it.

Audiobook Silent Harmony (Fairmont Riding Academy #1) by Michele Scott
Disappointed!!! Thank goodness, I read the book, before giving it as a gift. I definitely will not be giving it to my nieces to read, nor will I be reading any other titles by this author. The plot, characters, and setting were fine for a quick, enjoyable read. However, it was ruined by the level of sexual content. A bet between students to see who sleeps with the new girl first?!?!?! Twirling panties around on her finger at a poker game with all male students. And so on and so on. Disappointing that the author felt the need to add such content, when the book would have fine without it.

This book is an amazing book, let me just say that first.
Sad its over, and I am eagerly awaiting the next one. Vivienne Taylor is offered the chance to go to an amazing riding academy, and of course accepts it. Her provided horse, Harmony, is silent, unlike most of the other horses there. See, Vivienne has this amazing ability to communicate with horses through pictures, but Harmony will not speak for Vivienne. And as she goes through time at the Academy, she learns of the murder of Harmony’s former owner. It has an amazing ending.
I recommend this for people who know more about horses. That factor really helped me understand the book a lot better.
I also recommend this for YAs, (13+). If you are looking for a good horse book, this is a steal for this small price and great book!
Overall, I would say this is a good book for educated equestrian young adults. 🙂 Hope I helped.

Is it really possible to build psychic connections and hear the thoughts of other living creatures? We don’t really know for sure. What we do know is that people ARE intuitive and more sensitive than we sometimes care to admit to the emotions and the intentions of others. Take that concept and magnify it by at least a thousand and you have a horse. To me, this book is about listening and following your heart regardless of what kind of negativity life throws at you. It’s about the magical connection people can and do have with these magnificent animals and how the love for a horse can get you through a lot. This book seems to be intended for an adolescent audience but I think adults really lose out when they don’t read a book that piques their curiosity just because it was written for a younger audience. It surely didn’t stop me. It was the first book I read on my kindle and I found myself picking it up and reading a little when I was waiting in the drive up line at the bank. This is a quick easy read. anyone who has been bullied by snobs who seemingly have all of the things you struggle for or live without will identify with the characters in this wonderful little book.
