Sparkle & Shine: A Second Chance Romance (Try Again Series Book 2)

I really enjoyed the story of Alex and Rich. As much as I enjoyed Ethan and Juliet, I think I liked Sparkle and Shine even more. Like others have stated, I wasn’t sure how Rich was going to be reformed from a serial cheater into a trustworthy partner, but I believe he will change his ways for Alex….or she will kick his a$$!! Alex was always a character deserving of her own book. I loved her vulnerable side as she developed her strengths and grew to be an independent and successful jewelry artist. I can’t wait to start Read and Wright. My only problem with this book is nitpicky, but while I grant authors liberal license with reality when writing fiction, I have little tolerance for misinformation. Pittsburg, Kansas is misspelled on every occasion it appears. There should be no h at the end. Only Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has an h. Ms. Holt’s biography states she is a resident of Kansas and her website shows she offers editorial services which kind of makes this error a little more glaring. And makes me feel a little mean for pointing it out, but I love geography and think accuracy is important.

I honestly wasn\’t sure how I was going to feel about this book, because I just did Not like either Alex or Rich in the first book, but I somehow think my initial dislike of those characters made this one so much better. The character growth was amazing, and I thought that the ways they approached their troubled relationship (even when those methods didn\’t always work) were beautiful and well done. Definitely a fantastic Reunited Couple romance.

I love a redemption story. Like really, really love. And Sparkle and Shine is it. Maybe I was never that angry with Rich. Maybe I knew deep down that he could be redeemed and be the book boyfriend of my dreams. I was so right. I love Rich and Alex’s story, but more than that I love Marla Holt’s writing. She has a beautiful style and way of storytelling. Her pacing is perfect, her romance is top notch, and her characters are utterly unique and diverse. Sparkle and Shine is a new favorite for me and I think it could be for you too!

This book is great! It had lots of steamy scenes, but they made sense when they happened. Sure, as romance novel the chances the main characters end up together is high (so this isn\’t really a spoiler) but the author really makes it believable. She does this in all of the books in this series (there are 3) and I really enjoyed all the books. Highly recommend.

After reading Ethan & Juliet from this author I had to buy the next one in the series Sparkle & Shine!! I was not disappointed.
