Listening to Kirsten Potter narrating this novel will keep a person tucked in the couch throughout the night. No killing or dagger-drawn situation occurs in the novel and still, it has ample to scare your heart out. Later the town in which the whole incident happened was attacked by a deadly flue and life loss on a massive scale was seen. Author Emily St. John Mandel tells all of this through the eyes of Jeevan who was a child star at that time. Later after a decade or two, the girl turns into a superstar in Hollywood and comes back to the area where she observed total devastation as a young child star.
The situation of the area was not very different as compared to the past and coming back to it just adds more misery in Jeevan’s memory. The Glass Hotel by Emily could also listen in coordination with the current novel as both have equally scary stuff packed inside them. The only difference which can be seen between these two novels is that this one has more relations between past and present. The story goes back in the past at some stages and then it returns to the present in the next chapter. On some occasions, the going back is just in the thoughts only.
