This is Calebs story. I admit that in book one Caleb not only tempted by intrigued me. While I thought I had a clear-cut picture of this character I was surprised while reading Calebs story he was not exactly what I imagined. Caleb is lost and broken. A shell of his former self. He works hard, plays harder and spends his downtime working with his hand to forget. He lays on the cold hard ground trying to escape the nightmare that haunt his mind. He is a mans man, a fantasy come to life for women but he remains unfulfilled, restless and determined to right the wrong of his past.

Emmy is a firecracker. Her quick wit, dazzling smile and bright eyes light up a room and make the men in that room take notice. She has been hurt by those who should love her unconditionally. She lives life protecting herself and surrounding herself with people who lift her up. She is loyal to a fault and loved by everyone she meets. Inside though, her guilt taunts her and she second guesses the choices she has made.

Caleb and Emmy are two wonderful written characters. They are oil and water, fire and ice and everything naughty and nice. They are both stubborn, extreme in their passion and determined to figure out a way to bury the past as opposed to facing it head on.

Intertwined in this touching love story is a story of two people whose lives were both turned upside down by one person. It is a story of forgiving, friendship, starting over, compromise, family, learning how to let go of the past and live in the present.

The banter between the characters is fun, flirty and frustrating. The emotions are deep and the laughs many. Stolen Course is a fun, fast paced, sexy story.

I loved this book! This is the second book in the Wrecked and Ruined series, and while I don’t think you must read the first book, I strongly recommend it, as you get the necessary background to help you understand the characters.

Caleb’s life was destroyed five years ago when his fiance was killed in a car accident. This accident changed the lives of two couples. Caleb blames his fiance’s best friend (who also happened to be married to Caleb’s best friend), who was suspected of driving the car that night. He has held onto his anger, determined to prove that Sarah is at fault. Even after he meets Emma- Sarah’s sister- and falls in love. As you can imagine, that was a sticking point in their relationship.

I loved Emma and all her craziness and how she calmed Caleb. I loved how deeply Caleb loved. They were so great together.

Aly Martinez has a different style of writing, and her plots tend to be more original. I highly recommend this series!

Audiobook Stolen Course by Aly Martinez

This is the second novel I have read by this author and the novels just keep getting better. I jumped right in to this novel and just could not stop reading. So good! Caleb had been through so much he just about broke my heart. I loved Emmy she was such a firecracker. The chemistry between the characters was so hot. I loved the dialogue. I love when a novel can make you laugh, bring you to tears and then leave you with a happy heart. This novel did all of these things for me. I Loved it!

Audio Stolen Course narrated by Christian Fox Lucy Rivers

4.5 stars. I enjoyed this book even more than Changing Course. First of all, Emma is sassy and direct and has no problems calling Caleb out when necessary. Caleb, for all of his heart broken blackness after Manda’s death, is still that devoted fiance on the inside where he gives his all to the girl who was everything to him. Caleb holds in a lot of hatred towards Sarah and is trying to let go of Manda so he can move on and maybe find the sort of happiness that Brett and Jesse have found. As it turns out, the person who can make that happen for him is none other than Sarah Erickson’s younger sister Emma. Watching Caleb balance his love for Emma and his hate for Sarah was fascinating. I loved how Caleb was so dichotomous. On the one hand, he seemed like such a bad boy with so much anger and he can most definitely be an a$$. On the other hand, he has a really big heart that has so much love and affection to give that he could be the perfect boyfriend or husband material. Emma may not have been there for her sister in the past because she was afraid of losing Sarah in the process, but now Emma is the only person who can support Sarah and she means to do it 100%. I loved this about Emma, how she knew Sarah was far from healed or even likable, but she chose to love Sarah to the fullest anyway, but understood if no one else did. She could look past all of that and still be close to Brett in a brother-sister way and even befriend Jesse. Emma also has this way of yelling all the time that is quite frankly hilarious and endearing, but there was no way to avoid liking her because she has so much spirit and enthusiasm. And through Emma, the reader gets to see Sarah start to put herself back together. She will never be the same Sarah from before, but she can live a better life and that Sarah is quite interesting to see transform. I liked seeing Sarah and Emma talk as sisters, it was the first glimpse of Sarah post-tragedy being as close to normal as Sarah could afford. There’s a few twists in this one, and the most important twist is what answers the biggest question of all about that tragic night. I didn’t see that coming and what comes out of it is the unfortunate impact on so many individuals who are still all coping in their own way several years later and now they must all decide if they can let the past go because the people that really matter are now in the present and making an effort to live life beyond the wreckage. As much as it spoke to Caleb’s devotion to Manda with how often he thought of her and visited her grave, the flashbacks pretty much told me that he and Emma were the better couple overall and that while the path in which they found each other wasn’t under ideal circumstances, their life together could be.

This is Caleb Jones’ story, the best friend and partner of Brett from book one. Caleb tragically lost his fiance in a car accident five years ago. Not only is Caleb crippled by the grief of losing her but he’s also eaten up with hate for Sarah Erickson. She was his fiance’s best friend and Caleb believes she was the cause of the horrific accident that stole her away from him.
The Emma Jane Erickson walks into his life and knocks him on his ass. For the first time in years he’s feeling something other than hate and grief. But will he be able to get over the fact that his little Emmy is the sister of the woman he believes took everything from him; Sarah.
This is another great book from Aly Martinez, an emotional and gut-wrenching read. It has so many ups and downs that it’s one of those books that leaves you an emotional wreck afterwards but aren’t those the best kinds of books?
Aly Martinez has certainly wrecked and ruined me with this series so far, but I just cannot wait for more!
