This could have been a really good love story, but the vulgar language just ruined it for me. There were so many f bombs in the dialogue that the sentences just lost their meaning. How many young men who run a business use such vulgar language around everyone, even his former mother-in-law? Not a fan.

I haven’t read much of Quinn’s newer books lately. So, when the opportunity to read this one, I jumped on it. I am a sucker for small town stories.

I jumped right into this book, hooked from the start. The book starts with a drunken night that left me chuckling. It leads into some fun and some heartbreaking moments. All of the inbetween kept me turning the pages.

I enjoyed all of the characters in this book. Ren and Griffin’s story has a little bit of everything in it. There are some funny times, some sweet times, some sexy times, some heartbreaking times… My drawback with the characters is Ren. I felt for a character her age, her over-reactions were a bit much, immature. I wasn’t feeling some of her responses to certain situations.

While I was excited for that ah-ha moment for Griffin in this book, it didn’t leave me with what I had hoped for. It felt a bit cheesey, rushed, and forced. It was like, “oh, duh, why didn’t I think of that” and everything was all of a sudden right with the world. I needed it to be a bit more of a complex discovery at that moment.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. I am most certainly looking forward to the upcoming books in this series. I can’t wait to see what is in store for the other brothers.

I would not recommend this book to any one. The languish was enough to turn me off. Most unnecessary!

A love letter to her fans, Quinn sets up a fantastic new series with a slow burn and tender courtship set in the beautiful fictional town of Port Snow. LOVE THIS STORY! This second chance standalone is a must read all of Quinns fans and if shes new to you, this is a brilliant place to start.

A drunken celebratory night between brothers opens to a new universe, in the sleepy Maine town of Port Snow, where every heartache, every secret, and every meal is shared with family and neighbors. I want to know every detail, so much more of every character, and I cant wait for more books.

Sexy firefighter, volunteer, and heartbroken Griffin meets the pretty damn fearless Ren, a skittish school teacher whos a new comer to town. Their meeting is such a surprise, and its told with such great humor and hell yes ROMANCE. GAH! I couldnt put this book down. I LOVED IT! And the sexy times, lets not forget about those. This is a Quinn romance after all.

A small note about the culinary subplot. I cannot get enough of the Knightly fudge and those brothers. Port Snow is a special place, where the auto body shop hots wine and cheese mixers. 🙂 And the Knightly Brothers’ complete devotion to their small Maine town. I will definitely reread this charming story.

If you want a loving sweet, adult contemporary romance with real people sorting through lifes complexities and falling for each other in the process, paired with an idyllic setting, THAT SECOND CHANCE IS a delicious, fun family story.

I love everything about this book!! From the sweet romance between Ren and Griffin, to the witty banter between Griffin and his brothers, to the beautiful and peaceful depiction of the quaint coastal Maine town which is the setting for the book. Meghan Quinn is a masterful storyteller and with every word she has written, you are invited into a magical story of love, hope and second chances.

Griffin and his brothers are convinced that the curse cast upon them by the New Orleans palm reader has brought them bad luck in the dating world. He was content with being alone and didnt think he would meet someone who could change his mind. As a volunteer fireman he is often involved in dangerous situations and when a crazy moose caused a car accident, he was there to save the day. He rescued the beautiful Ren and bravely carried her to safety. Even though they had an instant attraction, Griffin wasnt sure he could take a chance on a relationship with Ren because he was afraid something bad would happen to her.

Ren felt the same way about Griffin and wanted to get to know him better, but he seemed to want to keep her in the friend zone. She sensed he was interested in her too, so she decided to make the first move. What could possibly happen? Moving to Maine was the beginning of the next chapter in her life, and she hoped Griffin was on the same page.
