Zoey Dean’s novel, THE A-LIST, takes us to Hollywood 90210 to glimpse into the life of four high-class girls engrossed in a world of couture, parties, and hot young bucks. Having just flown in to live with her father for the summer, Anna Percy is the new girl in town. She’s not a big fan of her father, but he said he’d hook her up with a job at a local literary agency.
Her first problem is that her dad’s a dud. He starts off their “new” relationship by not picking her up at the airport and not meeting her for lunch as he promised. Some Dad he is. Her second problem is Cammie, Sam, and Dee. There’s no way in Neiman Marcus they are going to let the new girl somehow win the love (or lust) or heartthrob Ben Birnbaum. Her third problem is herself. She feels a bit like Elizabeth Bennet from PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, longing to earn the love of Mr. Darcy, no matter what it costs. Only, her dreams may not hold up against the cutthroat methods of the A-List girls.
90210’ers don’t know what to do with a beautiful, intelligent, charismatic girl. She is competition in all the wrong ways. If anyone has a chance at the sort of wishes that money and power can’t buy, it’s her. Which means there’s only one thing to do with a girl like that, make her life miserable. If you can.
Dean’s sometimes humorous, sometimes saddening, and always couture writing style will entertain many readers but will leave others desiring something more below the surface. The characters are almost completely driven by boys and competition, offering little, if any, depth. But maybe that goes with the territory. Maybe that’s completely authentic. Maybe that’s what makes this story such a quick read, drawing you into the drama of their superficial problems in such a way that you find yourself caring about what happens and wanting everything to turn out all right in the end.

The A List audiobook in series Ali Reynolds
This has the potential of being someone’s guilty pleasure. The POVs were a bit all over the place. But iverall an OK easy read. I don’t know of there’s more books, but if there are I might give book 2 a try. It’s too bad though there weren’t so many likable characters in the story. We’ll see how it all turns out.

Audiobook The A List by J. A. Jance
The book I got was extremely strange. As I was reading I felt I missed somethings and I DID! Chapters 3, 4, 5 are completely missing. I continued to flip through the book to See if I could get over missing those chapters and found that chapters 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 are all duplicated in the book!!! What is going on!?!

This was a shorter book than I had originally expected it to be. Good and addicting to read. Loved it

It was engaging, but not an amazing book. Good enough for a young adult reader.
