I really like the Morland books, so please note that this review is about the quality of the Kindle conversion rather than the quality of Harrod-Eagles’ novel. I’m amazed at the number of typos and scanning errors that this book has; I don’t know whether to blame Amazon or Harrod-Eagles’ publisher, but either way, please stay away from the Kindle version of this book at all costs, and just buy a regular paper copy instead. Some chapters had 5-6 errors per page! At times, it was difficult to get the proper meaning from all the “tie” meant to be “the” and “laub” standing in for “I am” (yes, really – took me quite a while to work that one out). So until Amazon can promise an error-free version of this novel, don’t buy it in its current digital state.

The Chevalier audiobook in series Morland Dynasty

I realise that this is historical fact but there are so many story lines going at once that I am finding it hard to read more than one episode at a time. Previous books I could not put down but I am finding this one heavy going. There are so many typing errors too, most of the time I can guess what it is supposed to be but at other times I am completely stumped. Spoils it really.

Audiobook The Chevalier by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles

I am loving the descriptions of food, menues and everday events that have faced the Morlands this series continues to recapture the past in magnificent detail.

Extremely upset to find the Morland Dynasty books have jumped in price from £4.72 to £7.49. I had a sample of the Chevalier and clicked to buy not realising he price had gone up. Needless to say I won’t be buying any more of the series but will order them from the library!

Audio The Chevalier narrated by Christopher Scott

I have loved The Moreland Dynasty series from the first book. I love being taken back into time and am always excited to move on to the next book to see what the author has in store for the family.

As usual, the book is well researched and the Morland family members and their lives is woven through actual historic events brilliantly. The author gives each character a strong description, you actually feel as if you know them and can share their feelings.
I have read each Dynasty book in sequence and am fascinated by the descriptions of the customs of each era. For readers who enjoy history and fiction that keeps you reading this series of books is a must. My only criticism is the spelling in the Kindle versions is appalling – there are so many typing errors it is unbelievable. For example for KING, Ring is typed. In some cases it is just a jumble of random letters and you guess at the correct word. It does not detract from the brilliantly written narrative but it is annoying.
