The Christmas Table (Christmas Hope #10)

I loved this heartwarming novel with characters that jump right out of the book and into your heart and a beautifully written story that seamlessly goes back and forth between 1972 and 2012. This is the first book I have read by Donna VanLiere but it definitely won\’t be the last. \”The Christmas Table\” is a perfect read for this time of year and will inspire you, put a smile on your face, joy in your heart and ready for the holidays. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Donna has done it again! I could not put this book down because of the storyline that kept me wondering how this would all work out. Incredibly heartwarming. A great holiday read. I wish I lived in a town like Grandon. Enjoy!

This is different from the books I normally read, but due to the virus and the difficulty so many people are going through this year, I thought I\’d read something \’Christmasey\’ to cheer me up. I so wanted to like this book (and in her defense, the other \’Christmas\’ books I\’ve read by other authors were equally disappointing and boring)), but it was slow, at times dragging in storyline, and the ending was very anti-climatic. I read the ending and thought, Seriously? That\’s the ending? That\’s the best she could do? Seriously?? I was expecting so much more than what was written. Like one reviewer wrote – Ugh. The best part of the whole book is that we\’re shown that the Lord heals. He most certainly does – He\’s healed me. Those moments in the book showing how God works, that alone is worth reading the book for. I\’m a Christian and I felt those parts deeply. But there weren\’t enough of them, in my opinion, for a non-believer reading this to have those moments grab his heart and maybe help him on his way to being saved. The author could have definitely given more thought and time to that than the silly banter between Gloria and Miriam. Would I recommend this book? Yes…..but only because those parts about God and faith just may save one person. But for entertainment alone? It was very disappointing to me.

Loved this book and have to say it reminded me of what Christmas is all about. Loved Patricia and Emily. This is the first book I\’ve read of Ms. Van Liere’s and now I’m a huge fan. Her characters have such emotional depth you feel as if you are sitting right beside them. And the angels helped too. I highly recommend this book for a perfect holiday read. Great book!

Donna never disappoints! I look forward to every Christmas book she has written. It’s a page turner I read it in just a few hours
