This is not a bad novel and if you are looking for a really quick read, this is it.I had not read a book by this author before. She began strong, there isn\’t really violence but they are talking about a duel and it took me by surprise that the duel actually happened. So maybe you can consider that violence but it is minor. And not the focus of the book though it holds a valuable point in this story. The hero begins really strong and yes, he is the typical charming, strong, man. The story begins and then all the sudden jumps ahead in time and it left me going back a couple of chapters to see if I missed something. That happens again during the center part of the book. The main female character is cute, believable and the entire story is fun to read. I don\’t like when reviews give away the story of the book. Sorry. What bothered me in this book was the jumps and disconnecting moments. As in any of these novels,, they argue, fight, say no and then end up together, but with this male character it wasn\’t really showing well how he finally arrived at that realization. She is so sweet and wants to help and her grandma helps and so on. Good people and struggling with her kind character because she can\’t say no to another one. That is what the entire story is about. Nice read but not much depth and it felt as if the author had studied about the time and customs and threw that together in a hopefully believable story. No depth, or something to remember. But again, everyone sees something different when they read these novels. So it may be the right one for you. But she goes on and on about the genuine kindness of the female character. Ok. Got it. But anyhow. Nice read. Just not worth full price.

Angelina Rule, the heroine, loved soldier, Captain Maxwell since she was 16. Although they never made any promises to each other, she planned on marrying him when he returned from India. Harrison, the Earl of Thornwick, was ordered by the Prince Regent to marry the Prince\’s distant relative, Angelina. The Prince threatened her father with debtors prison if she didn\’t comply. The rest of the book basically is about 2 people who do not like being told what to do. The characters are nice, but really no complex plot going on here so the book is just OK.

Audiobook The Earl Claims a Bride (The Heirs’ Club of Scoundrels #2) by Amelia Grey
This book was ok – I really liked Angelina and Harrison. But, I wasn\’t really \”feeling it\” between them. While they were both exceptionally nice people – they were both \”in love\” before. And honestly I am not a fan of that particular plot line. When Harrison thought of Maddie (his brother\’s wife) as his first love, his only love – I was not happy. And even though later he says he thought of her as a sister – I wasn\’t buying it. Never once does he think he loves Angelina more than Maddie or even differently – it just felt like Angelina was second best. And Angelina was still convinced that she was in love with her solider – even though she hasn\’t seen him in a year and has barely spoken to him since they meet 3 years ago when she was 16. At least she admits that hers was calf love and didn\’t stand the test of time. All in all it wasn\’t a bad book – but just not what I was hoping for. I will definitely be reading Adam\’s book and hope that he isn\’t still in love with his late wife.

Harrison, Bray and Adam were known as the terrifying trio of nobility. Now, the three friends were living different times in their lives. Bray had married Louisa Prim, after a fierce dispute over the fulfillment of a promise; Adam was still mourning the death of his wife and son in childbirth; and Harrison had just become the Earl of Thornwick after the death of his brother and his whole family for a high fever. The family property was destroyed in the fire; Harrison had much work ahead, but the Prince decided for Harrison\’s future finding him a wife. Without having much choice but to obey the royal order, Harrison travels to London to meet his wife-to-be. Angelina Rule was beautiful, talented in painting and full of opinion. She hated that anyone decide for her, especially about her future. Her heart was committed to Cap Maxwell, and she was waiting for his arrival from the army. But she had to obey the Prince\’s order or her father would go to jail for having too much gambling debts. The only way would be Angelina and Harrison entered an agreement: they pretend to be doing the court until the end of season, so she could pay her father\’s debts and be free to marry anyone she wanted. But Harrison had decided that with or without real order, Angelina would be his. Now he just needed to convince her that he was the right man to be her husband, not Cap Maxwell. I love the plot, the pace. The characters are well known form previous book. Handsome, charming, rich and scoundrels. There are no hot scenes, but romantic ones. Good dialogues. And I can\’t wait for the next book when the widower and sad Adam Greyhawke will find the right woman to warm his cold heart… 5 stars
