I have enjoyed the Morland Dynasty series very much, but this book was hard to read. The main character was annoying and the plot concerning her was over the top and unbelievable, like a bad soap opera. In previous books the author was able to make unsavory characters interesting, but not this time. I am not sure if I will continue with this series. I also agree with previous comments of the typos, too many!!! Get better Amazon!

The Long Shadow audiobook in series Morland Dynasty
I have to say I am addicted to the Moreland Saga books. I have read every one of them…and now I am replacing my “used Books” with new ones. I’m looking forward to the time I can read them all in succession….Anyone who likes historical fiction would love these books. They are not readily available in bookstores in the USA so I am eternally grateful to Amazon for keeping them in stock and letting us know when a new one is available. I usually wait for the paperback copy and I’m on the waiting list for the newest one. I past them on to a co-worker…usually 5 at a clip …and her husband said they should be grounds for divorce since she could not stop reading. I am very particular about books I recommend and these books are so well researched that no one could possibly call them “historical fiction tripe”. I’m only sorry that Cynthia Harrod Eagles is so close to the present that there may not be more books before I die.

Audiobook The Long Shadow by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles
But… the editing is atrocious. So distracting. And sometimes the reader has to stop and guess at what the mis-typed words are even supposed to mean. I’ve been reading the series, and the editing is progressively worse with each book.
As I said for the previous books,Ive been reading the Morland Dynasty Books for over 20yrs. Ive read the whole series about five times and never tire of the books. I have been purchasing the new book every November when they’ve come out up to either 34 or 35, now Im slowly buying then on Kindle and re-reading them again. Ive learnt more history from these books then 12yrs at school! Would recommend starting from number one, but can start reading these books from any number as they explain themselves well. Her other books are worth reading too.

Audio The Long Shadow narrated by Christopher Scott
I love this author and most of the moorland dynasty, but have struggled with a few and this was one of them. As others have stated, the main character is not my favorite which is okay but affects my view of the story unfortunately.
The story itself is excellent, and a vital part of the series, but only buy the Kindle version if you can live with countless spelling mistakes and other errors ..50+ e.g. “He meant her no ham” (harm). Character called “Dauby”, when it should be “Danby” It is obvious no-one has bothered to proof read. . It becomes increasingly irritating as the book progresses. I wish I had purchased the paper version

This is the 6th book in the Morland Dynasty. I hadn’t purchased an ebook in this series for some time and frankly had forgotten why I had stopped reading them. Although the author makes the books interesting enough, it is difficult reading in that some illiterate person has made numerous spelling mistakes. This makes for a most frustrating experience. Amazon should check into this. No other book or series has had this problem. It is certainly not good for Cynthia Harrod-Eagles, her editor or publisher. I am making the assumption here that the hard copies of her books do not have these errors.
I am loving the Morland Dynasty, am in fact rather addicted! However from dynasty 4 to this book, (my latest read) I have noticed an increasing amount of grammatical and spelling errors, which is starting to get on my nerves as in some places the reader has to rewrite the sentence to try to make some sense of it! I understand in the free books on the kindle, but I’ve paid for this! Love the stories tho!
