I don’t know why I keep reading these, but I do. There’s just enough pay-back for the reader when Helm survives and completes a mission in cold-blooded fashion. The parts with the ladies is pretty mechanical, and I kind of get the idea that the bedding scenes are just kind of obligatory because, after all, he is the mysterious secret agent. After all is said and done though, the stories are still engaging enough to hold my interest and he leaves the scene with a stack of bodies in his wake and a girl at his disposal until the next mission. So, which one is next? Guess I’ll order it.
Thru the wild country of western Canada and Alaska. Matt has to sort thru unhelpful playmates, as well as enemies from several different camps. As usual, things don’t go well for most of the enemies, or for some of the playmates.

This book continues to sustain the interest and suspense that seem to be Donald Hamilton’s special gift. I’m reading the series in order, and so far I haven’t yet encountered a weak novel.

Audiobook The Ravagers by Donald Hamilton
Matt Helm books are what you pick up when you want a good EASY read. They’re not as philosophical as John D. McDonald’s Travis McGee novels or as complex as Robert Ludlum novels. (Both favorites) They will entertain you without taxing your concentration. Good before bed reads.

Audio The Ravagers narrated by Stefan Rudnicki
This is one of Donald Hamilton’s best Matt Helm books. As usual, the action starts off fast and moves rapidly from one twist to another. His characters are believable and like real people. The story continues to the usual climax, where Matt saves the mission in his usual clever and brutal fashion. This is not a book for the weak stomach, but you won’t put it down once you start it.

AS I have said before this is a very good story and deserves to be read for a second time, Read all the books until they fell apart and then I bought the entire Amazon series. This was a very good Matt Helm book. The plot was more complicated than many. Several twists and turns that I didn’t expect. Plus, the usual Mstt Helm persona was maintained.
