When Blake Norton asks his friend Ryan Francis for a favor, Ryan is inclined to refuse. But Blake reminds him of the secret he keeps, the one that forces Ryan to acquiesce . . . the secret can ruin his life if Blake reveals it. But Blake isn’t the only one who thinks he knows something about Ryan . . . and soon he finds himself caught up in the midst of a murder. Just how involved is Blake? What does his friend know? And will Ryan find the answers before the convoluted circumstances threaten to overwhelm those he’s determined to protect? This intriguing, multi-layered tale twists and turns as secrets, lies, and subterfuge weave a complex tapestry, changing everything readers think they know about what happened. The characters, flawed but realistic, spending a great deal of time making less-than-rational choices, leaving readers to shake their heads in amazement. Ryan makes one impossible-to-believe decision after another; he embodies absolutely no common sense and is likely to be the cause of significant reader eye-rolling. Relationships are at the forefront of the narrative as each chapter deepens the mystery, twists everything into something new, and compels the reader to turn the page. And, having proven that social media is far less friendly than its users believe it to be, the not-so-subtle warning offered here is worthy of careful contemplation. Recommended.

Audiobook The Request by David Bell

This is the first book I have read by this author and it may be my last. The entire plot was somewhat incredulous with dull characters. It appears that it was an attempt to make a statement about social networking but that only became obvious towards the end of the book. Once again, I cannot agree with these glowing reviews.

Audio The Request narrated by Tristan Morris

The story is interesting, tho really not a surprise ending. What it did do is raise questions about the way people live today. The way everyone lives for their devices, cannot function without them. It is all about marketing yourself, making yourself look good or making someone look bad. That plays a role in this book. In fact, it plays a big part. I do recommend, it is a good read
