The story tackles why good people are divided by politics and religion. The Righteous Mind was written by Jonathan Haidt who is a social psychologist, he searches the origins and sees forward to mutual understanding.
Haidt reveals that Liberalism draws from the three moral factors while conservatism draws from all six-factor foundations for morality which are: Care / Harm – cherish and protect others, Liberty – the loathing of tyranny, Oppression, Fairness / Cheating, Loyalty / Betrayal – standing with your group, family, nation, Authority / Subversion – obeying tradition, Sanctity / Degradation – abhorrence for disgusting things, food, actions.

These set out to discover non-related groups in society. His goal is to aim in finding a way to cross over the halve between the two different moral worldviews and to find a way for each side to at least acknowledge the other’s perspective.Â
The Righteous Mind is a mixture of ethnography, evolutionary psychology, and experimental psychology.Â
It was mentioned in the book that society has divided us into two: those who use reason to strengthen the choices that we have already made and those who use reason not to create our own moral decisions.
If you are interested in understanding the people and the society we live in, this book is definitely for you.
