A nice light listen, but 100% predictable. Characters were fairly well developed, but just so cliche. I wouldn\’t say it was a waste of a credit, but I also wouldn\’t listen to it again.

The story line was cute, but I really disliked the lead character. At one point her fiancée called her independent, but I found her to be very coddled and quite co- dependent. The narrator\’s \”valley girl\” voice for the lead character made me dislike her even more. However, I did listen all the way to the end… so I must admit that the story line made me think, which is one of the things I like most about reading/listening.

Audiobook The Status of All Things by Lisa Steinke Liz Fenton
You prefer literature but you\’re not a snob. Occasionally you enjoy a lighthearted \”beach read\”; you may even dip your toe into the dreaded pool of chick-lit on occasion. Sometimes you\’re pleasantly surprised, as in the case of Bridget Jones\’ Diary, for example. Liane Moriarty does a good job delivering a great story, too. Not so with this book. It serves up everything that makes you roll your eyes about chick-lit. Not only is the story utterly preposterous in the way a Hallmark channel Christmas movie, but even more annoying. The narrator\’s voice, first of all… a counterfeit Joan Cusack with none of the charm or personality. I finished this one only because i\’d used all my credits and returns for the month. So it SI better than nothing I guess, but not by much. I did need to shit it off many times because i got so irritated by it.

Audio The Status of All Things narrated by Amy McFadden
As my first Fenton/Steinke book, I was extremely impressed with the quality of writing in this novel. It was well structured, great ebb and flow of conflict, and lots of great thought-provoking prose. \”Wouldn\’t it be nice if we could get rid of hurtful feelings and memories the same way we so easily send a bad picture sailing into our computer\’s trash can?\” Kate endures one of the most devastating experiences ever – her fiance calls off the wedding at their destination-wedding rehearsal dinner. She has to face the reality that she can\’t crop or filter out that truth from her facebook status. Until her FB status/wish comes true. Then she has to decide what she really wants to get out of her do-over. This book was so good, I\’m mad at myself for only reading it now and not years ago when it was published. Now to catch up on the rest of these authors\’ books!

This was a quick, light read. Somewhat predictable but I still enjoyed it. I found myself frustrated toward the end with the main character but maybe that\’s what the author was going for. I enjoyed the ending.
