THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD (TELEVISION TIE-IN) AUDIOBOOK
The author talks about the time when the lives of the slaves were worse than dogs. Especially in places like Georgia, the slaves used to wait for their death most of the time because the miseries of life were hard to digest. The slave owners used to keep the slaves in places that appear to be worse than dungeons and for the female slaves, other troubles were waiting for them all the time.
THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD (TELEVISION TIE-IN)
Cora has multiple problems in the novel, not only she is a slave but she is also coming close to her womanhood which means that she could be used for physical pleasures too by her owner. The slaves among which she is living don’t have any kind of feelings for her so she is living an isolated life among these fellow slaves. Caesar a boy who comes to the slave camp tells the girl about a railroad and both plan to escape.
While running they kill a white boy and things become messy for them. Bahni Turpin narrates how the two finally find a rail and are successful in running away but they are constantly chased by the white people. Colson Whitehead talked about such situations in The Nickel Boys (Winner 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction) and Harlem Shuffle too but this one is a little bit romantic tour.
