The Vampire’s True Love Trials (Nocturne Falls #6.5)

“The Vampire’s True Love Trials” by Kristen Painter is Number 6.5 in the Nocturne Falls series. Sebastian and Tessa are in Europe putting to rest the events of their previous book, “The Vampire’s Fake Fiancee”, when Tessa receives a phone call from her parents. As a Valkyrie it is expected of her to marry a Berserker. And since she hasn’t done this yet, her parents have found one for her. Not only are they in the dark about Sebastian, but they are willing to over look their future son-in-law’s flaws as long as he marries their daughter. Sebastian is more than willing to do whatever it takes to get Tessa’s parent’s approval, even if it means risking his life.
Overall, this was another great addition to the series. I like how Kristen Painter adds these .5 novellas into her series so that the reader can get updates about their favorite couples. I would have liked to find out what the other trials were that weren’t discussed, but perhaps that will happen in Tessa’s sister’s story.

Proof that they are a team in love.

This novella The Vampires True Love Trials picks up the love story of Sebastian and Tessa. They have just finished testifying and the Vampire Council regarding Sebastians ex-wife, Evangeline. If you want to know more about that check out The Vampires Fake Fiance.

Sebastian and Tessa are planning to stay in Europe for a short vacation when Tessas parents call. Now they are off to meet her parents in Paris. Tessa is nervous and Sebastian knows that this is important for their relationship. So, he is fine with it.

I have always loved the confidence that Sebastian puts out there. He seems like the perfect guy to bring home to meet Mom and Dad, except for the fang part. However, if your parents are a Berserker and Valkyrie maybe bringing a vampire home isnt the easiest thing. Tessa just wants her parents to approve of Sebastian and her together.

Den is Tessas Dad and he is huge, just as you would think a Berserker would be. Den is a mixture of the traditional and the historical worlds. He seems like your typical over-protective father to me, with lots of grunting and super tight hand shaking.

Magna is Tessas Mom and she is a Valkyrie. She seems to love her daughters and really want them to be happy. I like Magna, she seemed sweet and yet has that dont mess with me vibe. She is more compromising than Den but still believes that Sebastian needs to prove himself especially since Tessa didnt tell them about him.

The True Love Trials are there for the Berserker to prove his ability to take care of and cherish the Valkyrie that he wants. Since Sebastian is a vampire, the trails dont work in the same way. Or do they? I thought that the spark between Sebastian and Tessa worked great with this story, and we got to see how important the two have become to each other.

At the end, we find that Delaney has had her baby as Sebastian and Tessa stop by to visit at the hospital. I wont spoil it, you will have to read it yourself to find out if the baby is a boy or girl.

My rating is 5 stars. I love this short story as much as the rest of the series. Kristin Painter has created a wonderful world full of exciting characters. I highly recommend this series, Nocturne Falls to all who read paranormal romance.

Two DNFs in one week, thats terribly, terribly sad to me. But it did mean that I got to hop over to a TBR book thats been waiting oh so patiently! Thank goodness I have the kindle app! Since I finished book six in Kristen Painters Nocturne Falls series yesterday, I thought I would move along to the novella that follows, The Vampires True Love Trials!

In this short little story, Sebastian and Tessa are finally done with all the nasty business regarding Sebastians ex-wife. Its all over and done and since they are in Amsterdam, Sebastian thought it would be the perfect time to extend the getaway and even proposing! Just as hes about to pop the question, Tessas parents call to tell her a berserker named Gunther has completed a set of trials and has won the right to propose. Naturally, this doesnt sit well with Tessa or Sebastian.

Its a basic meet the parents kind of moment except the only way Tessas parents will accept the relationship that Tessa and Sebastian want to have is if Sebastian completes the same set of trials. The only thing is the trials were created with berserkers in mind instead of vampires and if Sebastian were to fail any of them, then its game over and Tessa will marry the faceless Gunther.

This was just a fun, short little read that lets you see more of the Nocturne Falls world! Made fun since it let us see a returning couple get a little more complete with their happy ending and oh wow was there a surprise twist at the end! Not so much of a twist, but a surprise all the same!

I almost expected that wed see this mysterious Gunther, but that wasnt the case, which I guess makes sense. We dont need to see who this wannabe contender is since were all rooting for Sebastian to win anyway! The read was a fast one and I was just happy to be back with the Nocturne Falls gang! Though not everyone was there, being with just two of them is always enough for me! If youre already reading the series, dont skip this novella for anything because that surprise at the end was a fun little one that might have you questioning things in the books ahead!

I love Nocturne Falls. I want to move there and be spelled every day. This story catches up with the Characters from The Vampire’s Fake Fiancee, Sebastian and Tessa. It is a stand alone, but you will love it more if you read the Fake Fiancee first. Great characters, we learn more about the Valkyrie and Berserker world. Sebastian gets to be a hero and together, Tessa and Sebastian, prove that love is not dependent on supernaturals staying within their race. As always, humor and love are intertwined to make a great read!

I bought this a while ago and for some bizarre reason I had completely forgotten about it.

It was well written and interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed this short piece. It follows Sebastian and Tessa, picking up from where their original book left off.

Sebastian finally meets Tessa’s parents and, as tradition dictates as part of Tessa’s Valkyrie heritage, he must complete a set of trials to win her hand in marriage.

I love the series of Nocturne Falls as a whole and I especially love these little glimpses into established characters from that series. I love the direction the series is taking. The scene setting is perfect and the author has set up an immersive, and believable world within the books.
