This one is different in that the Theatre of Operations is changed to the Pacific. This is an investigation of murder with the suspect being John F. Kennedy. Billy and JFK and their families have some “history…” I won’t tell you more except that you will leave the book with some new questions about JFK the man and could this story have been real?
I enjoyed it quite a bit.

The White Ghost audiobook in series Billy Boyle
I learned a lot from this book even though the transition of Captain Boyle back to a Second Lieutenant was baffling. I had just gotten out of the service after serving was an MP in Korea and Ft. Hood and was working while listening to the radio, when they broke in with the story of President Kennedy being killed.

Audiobook The White Ghost by James R. Benn
Im retired and learning more about my Dads world during WW II in the pacific. Wished Id ask more questions when I was a kid. My wife Dad started in Africa and was in the same places in the earlier books. We have bought the whole series. Great slant and different perspective to the war. I like.

Audio The White Ghost narrated by Peter Berkrot
This is a little different from the other “Billy Boyle” books, a step back if you will, with a complete change of background. The story is centered around an actual historical event and a real, revered, person. Benn does a very good job of weaving a suspenseful murder mystery in an exotic setting, and we get to know more of Billy’s life before he joined the Army. The story moves along steadily, with attention to historical detail and accuracy. Although the clues are there, you won’t be able to put together the solution until the last few pages. My only critique is that although some major characters are very well developed, others who are just as important to the story appear almost two dimensional. Still, this is a good addition to the series, giving a well-deserved nod to those fighting in the Pacific.

Years ago I read a good deal about the fighting on Guadalcanal but never much about the marine advance north after the island was taken from the Japanese. James Benn brings this to life, the ending perhaps a little too much to life! Once again he nails historical events, a good mystery and real life characters into a “can’t put it down” book. Billy Boyle lives to tell another tale!
