Spoiler alert! This book was okay but it was ruined by their friend Matt slipping a drug into an addicts drink and then everybody just forgiving him like he just slipped him some aspirin or something. Seriously, who needs enemies when you got this type of friend. I couldn’t get over that and it ruined the whole story for me. This is not what friends do.

Overall I enjoyed this book but it had some major issues.
The writing is great and it actually got me from the start, the dialogues the pace the humor.
The problem I had was with the characters, I didn’t like how he treated her, i get that he is confidence but there was something annoying almost most of the story. It was hard to like her, maybe that developed later in the book but we spend most of the book not knowing too much about her other than the fact she is stressed and responsible.
I liked their history and how they both noticed each other but I didn’t like the current setting, meeting again at this resort was horrible, the card game wast terrible and down right sexual harassment/ assault waiting to happen.
I didn’t read The Hunted Series so there were a lot of missing details, this can be read as stand alone but I now understand that this takes place in the middle of another story and I constantly felt it while reading.
The plot was nice, writing style great, characters developed eventually but it could have been much better.

Audiobook Third Chances by Ivy Smoak

I’ve previously read one novel by @ivysmoakauthor, a fascinating thriller titled The Truth In My Lies. After experiencing Ivy’s talent, I chose this novel as my second read by her. Third Chances was not a thriller, however, but an adult contemporary romance. I’ve been expanding my reading genres, so I dove right in. This appeared to be just another “good girl meets bad boy and falls in love” story, but the depth on character development Smoak puts into her tale makes this book so much better than the norm. The story, albeit not entirely original, has enough detail that the reader cannot help but fall in love with the author’s writing. The storyline flows smoothly, with a nice pace and few wasted words. Ivy Smoak is one author who has seamlessly crossed genres, and succeeded in both.

My rating: 4.75/5 stars

Audio Third Chances narrated by Connor Crais Vanessa Edwin

I wanted to love this book. I read both The Hunted and the Light to my Darkness series, and LOVED Rob’s character so much in those books that I was eager to read this one. Unfortunately, there were a couple of major storyline flaws–in my opinion–that seriously lowered my rating of this book. SPOILER ALERT. One flaw was Kristin’s role and behavior in the book. There is no way that James would have agreed to hang out with a woman who he had previously considered getting a restraining order against! Especially when she continued to throw herself at him throughout his entire bachelor’s party weekend. I also had a hard time believing that his brother and best friends would even ask that of him. Come on!! Who does that??!! True friends would never put someone in that position. Plus, everybody there pretty much laughed-off her behavior without really calling her out on how INCREDIBLY inappropriate her behavior was–especially when James made it crystal clear that he was uncomfortable with it. It honestly made me seriously question Daphne’s character. How could she be best friends with somebody like that and allow her to continue behaving that way the whole weekend? I think she needed way more than a kick to the shin under the table or a surreptitious elbow to her side. The second major flaw was that Matt, one of James’ long time best friends and best men at his wedding, slipped him drugs–yes, he slipped drugs to a recovering addict!! AND, James’ and Rob’s reactions to it were really mild. WHAT??!! This was VERY out of character for both of them. They should have, at the very least, punched Matt in the face for doing this. They both have rather volatile tempers (James especially), yet they brushed it off like it was no big deal. How do you remain best friends with somebody who would do something like that?! Matt wasn’t even apologetic! Sorry, but I thought that this storyline was a HUGE miss. The book was about the bachelor party weekend trip FOR JAMES. Yet, his supposed best friends made him hang out with a woman who stalked him to the extent of considering a restraining order and allowed Matt to slip him drugs without even holding him accountable for it. If the intent of this book was to change the readers’ opinions of all of James’ friends–making us hate them–then, good job!! I liked all of the characters prior to this book …

Rob really liked the Brunette sitting under her usual tree reading. At the bar Rob really hoped she would walk in. Daphne and her friends were taking their friend on a bachelorette weekend. The bride Alina always wanted to go to Costa Rica so that is where they wound up at the Blue Parrott Resort. Daphne felt out of place especially when her friends decided to play a joke on her. There was a game played by single people at Resort using gold bracelets. Rob,Matt Mason and their friend James who Kristan had been stalking for awhile. The girls went with Kristan over to see if it was really James. Rob had Daphne is had to put sunscreen on him per his card. Rob was trying to get Daphne to sleep with him but he was losing the battle. Rob and Daphne spend time together at the resort and things were going well. Then things start to go south as Daphne freaks out on him. Rob was due to leave that Sunday and Daphne had a whole week with her girlfriends. Rob leaves after another freak out by Daphne this time he went back to the states. Will Daphne and Rob finally get back together or was the last fight be their last time together
