Three Sweet Nothings (Blindfold Club #5)

Nikki Sloane has done it again! Ever since we met Kyle way back in Three Hard Lessons I have been DYING for Kyle\’s story. Several of my book buddies and I just knew that a kinky side lie just beneath the surface. Add in the fact that I am a sucker for second chance romance and BOOM! I hit gold with the story. Imagine my delight when I won an ARC of this story. Kyle and Ruby were electric!! When I finished this book I had three reactions swimming through my head. I felt like I needed a cigarette, a huge glass of wine and some alone time with a girls best friend (I\’m not talking diamonds here ladies!). Alas, I don\’t smoke, and my two kids were awake and wanting some attention themselves. (That eliminates the wine and the alone time with B.O.B.) While this may be the hottest of Nikki\’s books to date in my opinion, the story line was absolutely beautiful. The underlying theme in this book is the importance of communication and what happens when communication is lost between two people that love each other. I laughed, I swooned and my heart broke for Ruby and Kyle and the struggle they faced and why the faced it. This book was pure gold!! Trust me! Even if this genre is not your typical read you will want to give this book a chance. While I have huge love for Evie and Logan, Peyton and Dominic, Joseph and Noemi, and don\’t get me started on Regan and Silas, Ruby and Kyle have stolen my heart. Their story is one that everyone can relate. So schedule some alone time, grab your favorite glass of wine, have B.O.B. on standby, and grab your copy of this unbelievably beautiful and SCORCHING HOT book.

I\’ve read the author\’s other books in this series. Thoroughly enjoyed some, while others not so much. Ruby and Kyle had a relationship five years ago which ended in heartache. My heart broke for both of them when the misunderstanding was revealed. I wish there would\’ve been more about them and less sex. It became redundant and I found myself skimming. Sometimes less is more. One other thing that bothered me, this author always brings others into the bedroom. Don\’t get me wrong, I love a good menage, but sometimes it isn\’t necessary. In the instance of Kyle and Ruby this rings true. I felt it brought nothing to their story. It seems it was placed there for shock value, I\’m not even sure.

4.5 stars. Kyle McCreary is Payton\’s older brother and if you\’ve met Payton, then you know a little bit about her upbringing. Seeing as Kyle comes from the same set of impassive, high society and image preserving parents, it\’s no surprise that Kyle is very driven, motivated, assertive and a bit withdrawn when it comes to emotional expressions. After being away in New York for 5 years, he\’s begrudgingly back in Chicago, working as an attorney in his father\’s firm. His ex-girlfriend, Ruby Carter, is also an attorney. When they went their separate ways, it left a trail of pain and heartbreak never to be forgotten or repeated. And while a committed relationship might be out of the question, the sexual chemistry is still as hot as ever and has so much potential for exploration that they can\’t pass this opportunity up. I loved Kyle, he\’s looks like a male version of Payton and is on an equal scale of handsome as Dominic, so he\’s obviously intelligent, irresistible and sexy. As for Ruby, she\’s fiery, passionate and impulsive, especially when it comes to her emotions. She\’s led by her feelings and has a tendency to leap before she looks, whereas Kyle is pragmatic and level headed, weighing all of his risks before he takes any chances. There\’s no doubt that they have no problems opening up in the bedroom, but completely shut down or lash out when it comes to actually talking about what they want from each other outside of physical intimacy. I really enjoyed their dynamic because even if Kyle tried to maintain distance, he was falling deep and was just as absorbed as Ruby was the whole time. Except Kyle had a plan rolling in motion whereas Ruby was wondering when she could convince him to switch gears. And they are scorching together, there\’s no question that Nikki Sloane knows how to write those scenes and make them new and interesting, yet fit the couple, with each book in this series. The intricate dynamics and control is always so addicting. And I liked the balance between Kyle and Ruby, where it wasn\’t a set-up that could point fingers at one of them more so than the other in the fault department because they both made mistakes. If you\’ve been reading this series and loving each couple, this is another one not to miss. And yet I still can\’t get enough and look forward to the next book.

Here are the basics – Three Sweet Nothings: 5th Blindfold Club book, second-chance romance, HOT, a sprinkling of angst (and a sprinkling of something else, but you have to read to find out). Nikki Sloane does not disappoint in the 5th Blindfold Club book. 3SN is Kyle and Ruby\’s story. We met Kyle before, he\’s Payton\’s brother. And we\’ve been looking forward to his book since his introduction! Here\’s what I love about this book. The writing! In this book, there\’s angst! It\’s fantastically written. The characters are real – you want to know them, you want to be friends with them! I enjoy reading books where the characters talk like normal people and act/behave like normal people. The book is told in dual POV and told PERFECTLY in dual POV. Nikki Sloane gets the male POV, she excels in writing it. The opening lines of the book – whoa. Just whoa. The sex scenes in this book – I love that they\’re not overplayed scenes that we\’ve read a million times. They\’re different, new, FUN! New and old characters – I love seeing old friends from past Blindfold Club books. Hello, Joseph! We also were introduced to knew characters that we\’re so curious to know who will show up in a future Blindfold Club book. Fantastic work, Nikki Sloane, Three Sweet Nothings is a hit!!

It wasnt my favourite of the series but hot damn it was still an amazing read. Miscommunication and years spent apart create friction between Ruby and Kyle but that just added to the greatness.
