As always, Higgins writing is terse and to the point. The book covers the first meeting of Dillon and Ferguson and the first mission for Dillon.

None of the major characters are here except for the two mentioned above. But, still an outstanding book.

However, not as good as the ones to come. But, it needs to be read to know of the beginning.

Love the character Sean Dillon and can not get enough of the intrigue and action. Great read for anyone who loves mysteries too.

The used-good quality book was cheap and readable. Jack Higgins presents WW2 thriller-fiction stories like no other.

Unfortunately, the main characters are light on their awareness of danger even though they are in the business of protection. Main character – Dillion is narcissistic and boastful to the extreme. Author’s storyline construction is great but characters need to make fewer mistakes. The Brigadeir is clumsy and works in a fog, never believing the larceny in the hearts of the spies he works with or attempts to catch.

Sean Dillon, former IRA gunman, world wide mercenary for hire, part James Bond, part Carlos, with a mixture of Brit stiff upper lip, and the cheekiness of the Irish. These traits makes him a lovable character. His sense of right is very personal and pragmatic. In the context of today’s world environment he is the appropriate tonic to use against the array of evil doers we are faced with.
