I’ve read every book in this series, but after reading Kyle Mills’ 2019 release I vowed it would be the last. Mills just wasn’t accurately depicting the characters that Vince Flynn had developed—and that I had come to know and enjoy. However, I gave this book a shot and I’m glad I did. It seems like he’s finally taken some notes and maybe even reread some of the original books 😉 because this book and the characters in it are much more faithful to the series that Vince created. And I am thankful.

Total Control The author loses one star for being 11 years late to the party. One Second After is a 2009 novel by American writer William R. Forstchen featuring an EMP strike taking down the entire grid. Author Franklin Horton in 2015 wrote the exact scenario with ISIS insurgents & their sleeper cells taking down the grid with manual & cyber attacks, including blowing up oil refineries in Texas & Louisiana. Author Bobby Akart has written more ways to take down the grid than anyone. But along with many hundreds of great writers, they were considered Conspiracy Nuts, writing under the genre called “Prepper Fiction”, at kindle prices of $2.99-3.99, not MSM NYT Deep State price of $14.99. For the record, as the author contends is a made-up trap to snare the culprit (83% thru the book),Texas DOES have its own grid, independent from you rest of the country. I wish I could add a half of a star, because the author(s) didn’t turn out to be lefties, like Follett & Graham. This really was a page-turning great read. I highly recommend this book. But I still prefer Akart’s research & Horton’s character development. There’s more than one way to take the grid down. Any Bobby Akart book will lead to ‘lights out’. This is still a great read, if you can afford it. Get ready now. The next three months will likely be extremely dangerous.

Audiobook Total Power (Mitch Rapp #19) by Kyle Mills Vince Flynn

2020 has been the craziest year on record but 9 months into it, I didn\’t think anything else could surprise or shock me… but this book did! It was incredible for all the same reasons that Rapp books always are, but this one also felt like it was happening or about to happen all around me, even as I was reading it! Almost like if I kept reading, it was sure to occur! Kyle Mills has added another diamond to the #Rappiverse!

Audio Total Power (Mitch Rapp #19) narrated by George Guidall

I absolutely love the character Mitch Rapp. What Kyle has done to him since we lost Vince has been incredible. He\’s made him a little more human and I don\’t think he realized it would happen like it did. He has Claudia and Anna besides Irene, Scott and the boys and little by little he is making him a little more relatable. He\’s still pretty much the scariest man on the planet but at least he\’s in love. And he\’s trying to be at home with the family more. The book goes into just how messed up the human race can be when you have a few people who bent on destroying everything about the USA and won\’t stop until they achieve this goal. Living in a household with all law enforcement people, my family, I already know just how messed up the would can get. This book is a perfect example of how people should take notice of what\’s really going on in our backyards and start doing something proactive to prevent it. Dang fine book! Can\’t hardly wait for the next one. I.hope I don\’t have to wait a year.

I have read all of the Mitch Rapp series, most of them twice. I was very disappointed with book 17. I felt the main characters have changed and lack to personalities built up over the years by Vince Flynn. The plot was not believable that an American consultant bent on destroying America\’s electric grip would partner with Islamic extremists and make them take orders from him. I almost stopped reading this book half-way through. This is probably my last Mitch Rapp novel. It was boring.
