Diana Gabaldon gives us the story of wartime when there are injuries to be seen on everybody. Jamie Fraser lost someone very dear to him i.e his father, at the start of the war. The boy never felt so hopeless in life because now he was without family and friends. An attack by the English army gives Jamie lethal wounds and instead of thinking about anything else just runs away from the spot as far as he could.
While on the run Jamie finally finds company in the form of an old friend named Ian Murray. Ian too was running from the war zone thus both men found something in common to talk about. After traveling together for some time they also found another thing common in them i.e they were virgins. None of them have ever tasted a true relationship with a woman in their life.

Both got opportunities but the ladies didn’t attract them very much. In their search for perfect love, the two men get hired for a job by Dr. Hasdi who asks them to transport two ladies out of town safely. One of those ladies happens to Rebekah i.e the daughter of Dr. Hasdi. Ian and Jamie are at once attracted towards the girl but then the twist touches their lives.
The girl was not what she appeared to be in front of them thus they once again fell in for something dangerous. Allan Scott-Douglas excellently narrates the condition of two lads who are desperate to lose their virginity and this emotion has made them forget the war which is taking place near them.
The series though talks about fiction but it has romance too Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber also impressed the audience not because of fiction but because of romance which takes over everything. This novel is psychological as well; the author very accurately looks deep into the minds of two young men who just cannot put their eyes on a beautiful girl.
