Konrath used to be a favorite. His books had action, twists and gritty violence . But now it seems like he is obsessed with trying to get more disgusting violence into each new story. It\’s progressed so far over the top that it bordered absurd comedy. I couldn\’t even finish it.

Ever rub your eyes and know you should stop … but can\’t, and keep rubbing? Reading this book is like that … you know you are hurting your brain, but you persist to the end. Super violent, and mostly unbelievable, the characters continue to overwhelm, and warp the printed words. I thought it would be impossible, but I actually made it to the end … glad it\’s over.

Have enjoyed his previous books but found this one really hard to finish. Found the characters unbelievable, the plot suspect and at times the book was just ridiculous. Way too much violence, and the humour that has been in previous books was totally missing the mark in this book. Altogether a really disappointing read.

The gang\’s (mostly) all here. McGlade talks Jack into \”one last one\” and she, questioning her judgement all the way, leaves Gil/Phineas and their daughter behind, gets into the Crimebago Duex, and off they go, Jack questioning her sanity with every mile. Unbeknownst to either of them, riding along are little twin psychos posing as videographers. Boy, are they messed up, as shown in flash backs into them growing up. Memories of the last book are brought up constantly. I swear I read all of this series but missed it. Downloaded and ready to catch up. Memories of the psychos Jack and Herb have brought down are also recalled (with convenient links to the books on Amazon) are here. As we know, with Harry\’s assistance (Harry barely tolerated) they took down some really bad ones. Some of the worst being women. But the psychos (yes, more than usual this time) they are up against in this outing are truly whacked. With the exception of not remembering the last book, this is exceptional, living up to the Konrath brand. The ending may leave a long time reader in tears, as it did me. Is there another Jack Daniels book coming? Only the author knows. While this CAN be read as a stand alone book, new readers would be well advised to read others first. Probably the best of the series. But I think that about all of them.

Great series by a great author and was surprised by this addition. I had a hard time putting the book down, so I blazed through it! I\’m shocked by the sickos that Jack has to bring to justice. I love the feelings that the main characters have for each other and it\’s how I feel for them as well. I\’m reminded of some things that happened in previous books, but believe you could read this without knowing the history, and if you like it, then you have found a new series and ten new books to read. Score! I\’m ever hopeful that we will see a new cocktail in our future.
