Winter Garden is a fictional novel. It is written by Kristin Hannah. She is a very talented American author with quite a few good books to her name such as The Four Winds. Other than this, the Firefly Lane novel from the author also got good appreciation.
The narration of this novel is done by Susan Ericksen. She did a fantastic job with her voice and made this audiobook so enjoyable for the audience. It wasn’t an easy book to narrate as it had some Russian and Irish accents which she performed with perfection.
Winter Garden
Nina and Meredith Whitson were as different as two sisters could be. One stayed within her home to raise her kids and also to manage the apple orchard of the family. On the other side, the other sister followed a definite dream and she traveled the entire world to become a popular photojournalist.
But, when their dear father got ill then both the sisters came together again. They were just next to their disapproving mom, Anya. She still doesn’t offer any sort of comfort to her daughters. Their father on his deathbed extracted a promise from those women in his life. He asked for a fairytale to be told one last time which was the only thing their mom used to tell to her daughters in their childhood.
The book made a very slow start. It will take its sweet time to get into a rhythm. However, one must not expect too much from this novel. It will just be an OK option for one time listen in your leisure time on the weekend or vacations. Full marks to Susan for such amazing narration.
