Without Law 10

I didn’t like this book at all. The decline started in the previous book, with the whole boat plot and the incredible but never mentioned before sailing skills of Paige, but this one just felt drawn-out and wrong.
The characters became more idiots after winter and their decisions don’t make any sense. Tara in particular reverted to her previous self and all her grow and character development were thrown out the window.
The relation of Tav and the new character dont make any sense, he cant be against the National Guard because of the way they treat people in one book and look the other way when the new guy treats almost the same way his people. Its just plain wrong.
The plot of this one felt rushed and the mission was another walk in the park, the series it’s getting repetitive and dull.
With the farmers going back to their homes, I hope Kimmy doesnt stay with Tav in the next book only for him to be with her, because survival wise she and her baby needs to stay with the trained nurse, the other option its just fan service.
I feel this series is being stretched thin, and I dont know how much I can take, because Im losing interest.

Im going to start with the good. I love the story. The characters. The humor. Even the sex is good albeit too male version of porn. However, the proof reading sucks. There are a ton of incorrect words and incorrect character names that it detracts from the story. Also, there are a bunch of inconsistencies that I feel need to be pointed out. In the previous books they get in the army trucks which has a single bench seat. Tav and three of the girls sit shoulder the shoulder and its a tight fit. Later in the same book all 5 of them sit on the same bench and its fine. Where I really had a problem was with the sailboat in book 10. Looking at a satellite map of the la chute creek it would never be able to take a sailboat down it. First off the first bridge the come to might have 10 feet of clearance on a normal day. With the water level higher then normal due to the spring run off it would be less. A 30 sailboat easily has a 3-4+ above the waterline to the top of the cabin. The mast is at least 10 on top of that. Next we have the waterfalls and the rapids. Sailboats have a keel that sticks out of the bottom of the boat depending on the size 2-3 feet and most boats that size, they dont retract. A regular trailer would be useless. And rapids? Youd bottom out before you got to them. At the bottom of lake George they stop at tea island and there is a resort on the island that was far enough away it would take a long time to walk to where they landed. Tea island might be 200 wide and that is being generous. The resort is not on the island but on the mainland to the west of it. There are other islands on the lake that would have made more sense to stop at. Point is if you are going to name actual places and use writers license to make it fit the story it at least has to be believable. Other than that I still love the stories enough to keep reading them

Oh. One other point. A survivalist will tell you you dont just skin and eat rabbit. You have to check the liver for spots to see if it has Tularemia which can be transmitted to humans.

At this point I’ve come to rely on the Without Law series to be one of the most consistently entertaining series in its genre, and WL10 was no exception. What I wasn’t expecting was the direction that this volume would take, or that there would be elements of a psychological thriller mixed in with what turns into a Dirty Dozen scenario that pits Tav and his team of commando coeds against multiple threats. Now the wait begins until I can hear the spectacular narrator team for the audio books take on Tara finally getting to pillage a Nordstrom’s.

I was lucky, I came into this narrative with the first 10 books written – I thought it would be a wrap in 10. Mr. Vall’s attention to detail is quite good, and it’s easy to get swept up in the day to day survival.Though he takes it a step further, and this what I like most about his novels as compared to some of the others I’ve read (over the last 50 years), he shows how he/we could rebuild a sustainable community on the ‘left-overs’ of the old one. This is my first Harem series, so I have nothing to compare that aspect of the story to, except to say that it does what every element of well-written novel should do, it not only continues to evolve the relationships of these characters, it propels the story forward, and of course the advantage of a good serial, is it allows to continue to flesh out the people whose lives you become a part of… almost from the first book, you feel yourself the 6th member of Tav’s 5 member crew. I highly recommend this series, and hope you will enjoy this as much as I do.

As usual this series continues to be enjoyable. This book is no exception. Love the exploration And learning how to adapt to a new world without power.Nothing new on the hair and front. Same old same old there. Doesn’t get in the way of the story but still fun. Should be interesting to see what the future is and whether the refinery and it’s owner continue to be an asset or a liability. Looking forward to the next book.
