Once again, this series delivers a captivating installment. Every time I begin the next book, a sense of worry lingers, fearing it won’t match the brilliance of its predecessor or that the story might unnecessarily prolong. However, this book surpassed my expectations—it was truly exceptional. It introduces delightful new characters into the mix, reigniting the charm that initially enamored us with Alexis, Mordecai, and Daisy in the first installment. The climactic drama surrounding Lydia towards the end injects a thrilling dose of action and tension, enhancing the overall wholesome nature of the story.

Sin & Surrender audiobook Series Demigods of San Francisco

These books and their characters captured my heart completely. The humor infused throughout was absolutely fantastic. My only predicament was the significant amount of sleep I sacrificed. Despite promising myself that I would get some rest after finishing one book, I invariably found myself diving into the next. Gratitude fills me as I extend my heartfelt thanks to K.F. Breene.

Audiobook Bad Wolf by K.F. Breene

If you’re reading this and have even the slightest interest in this genre, don’t waste another moment on other people’s words. Go and grab the first book right away and be entranced by K.F. Breene’s captivating storytelling.

This series is nothing short of fantastic! From beginning to end, from cover to cover, books 1-6 are all outstanding. The characters are relatable, believable, and an absolute joy to get to know. Usually, I have designated reading times each day, but this series had me reaching for my book at every possible moment, regardless of where I was. I’m not one to write many reviews—I’m pretty terrible that way. I prefer to dive straight into the next book and leave you all to your own devices. However, I can’t contain my disappointment that this series has come to an end. I won’t have the pleasure of witnessing Bria’s next witty remark, seeing who Daisy will surprise with a well-placed stab, or discovering what new misfit will join my newfound favorite chosen family. It compelled me to say something. Do yourself and your reading friends a favor and simply read this series.

Here are a few things you won’t find in these books:

A Mary Sue. Alexis is undeniably awesome, but she faces challenges, learns, and the resolutions are sensible and plausible.

Awkwardly explicit sex scenes. The chemistry between the characters is believable. There’s a tantalizing allure, but it’s never gratuitous or overly explicit for the sake of arousal. It’s tastefully written, always just the right amount—not too short, not too long.

A “whiteboard” character. You know, that character authors sometimes use to ask ignorant questions, spoon-feeding the reader information. Thankfully, you won’t encounter that here. The information and insights are seamlessly integrated into the narrative, allowing it to flow naturally. I always want to throttle that character. Authors, please take note!

Shallow villains. The antagonists in this series are exceptional. They possess depth, displaying conflicts through their actions. They aren’t one-dimensional villains; they evoke a range of emotions from readers. You’ll find yourself liking them, hating them, loving them, empathizing with them, wishing for redemption, and even relishing in their wickedness. I’m eager to read their backstories. How did they end up where they are? They aren’t just generic “Evil, Inc.” characters, and that’s what makes it truly captivating!

A predictable story. I despise when I can easily guess the ending, but I can’t help but try. And I despise it even more when I’m correct. This series is full of unexpected twists and turns. I was left shocked, yelling at my book, setting it down only to send perplexing messages to friends who had no idea what I was talking about, but still agreed that things were indeed shocking.

A dull or formulaic ensemble cast. I adore this crew. I cherish this family. I’m infatuated with the cats. I want spin-off series for each of them. They are all fleshed out enough to carry their own books, expertly crafted to make you desperately yearn for more. Seriously, the characters and their relationships are absolutely outstanding!

Another book. I’ve finished, and a wave of immense sadness has washed over me. Words can’t express how much I will miss this zany, crazy, #crewgoals, misfit family.

As a light trigger warning, this series touches upon heavy themes, including kidnapping, torture, child abuse, and rape. Some scenes depict shocking violence, including instances involving children and teenagers. However, I feel these themes were handled delicately, without being excessively graphic. Well… except for Mordie… shudder. Nevertheless, it’s never gratuitous or employed for cheap shock value and thrills.

Audio Sin & Surrender narrated by Khristine Hvam

Even at 80, I found myself skipping over the sex scenes, as my generation comes from a different era. “Get a room” behavior can be left behind closed doors. I have no interest in voyeuristic encounters. What I truly appreciate about this series are the characters—their sense of righteousness, their outrage at injustice, and the delicate balance between protecting women while respecting and appreciating their abilities. In my world, real men admire strong women and have no qualms about acknowledging their capabilities, even when surpassing their own. This series pays tribute to both men and women. I would love to see more of it.

No seriously. I’m mourning this series like I lost a loved one. This journey has been spectacular, unexpected and unique. This series is the gift that kept giving for me in everyway and to read the end of this book and feel everything I felt just solidifies how great it really it. Books like this are priceless, they don’t come often but mean more that most and just saying.. I’ve read ALOT of books. This is definitely a top 10 series for me.

Lexie, Kieron, Daisy, Mordecai, the Six+2, Bria, Harding.. hell even the cats. I am so invested in every character and their journey. I feel like it’s been one of growth, self discovery and hope. They are a family. A dysfunctional one but a family none the less and that is felt through the pages. Through their interactions, the banter and bickering. The love. It’s there and I loved it.

As far as world building goes this author has surpassed any and all expectations. This world in all it’s weird and wonderful with it’s many cracks and crevices is truly spectacular. I felt like I could imagine everything crystal clear and see what she was telling us through words. It really is the gift that keeps given.
