I HATE cliffhangers and had I known thats what this was, I would NOT have bought it. To add insult to injury I paid $4.99 for HALF a book! I understand why the author splits the book…double the payday…but Ive walked away from authors before for this same reason. If this author expects loyalty from her readers, she needs to treat us with respect and publish a complete book.

OMG, I knew it was going to end on a good cliffhanger but that was a whopper. This is the first in the Filthy Duet and it is one roller coaster ride that will leave your head spinning. Eric Mitchell was raised by a single mother and found out before she died that his father is a rich man that doesn\’t know he exist. But she wants him to know his father before she dies. The family doesn\’t want anything to do with him and they let him know it real quick. His father only wants him around to gets his half-brother to do what he wants. They only want to use Eric. So Eric leaves and makes it on his own until he comes back under the pretense they want him back, but he knows better. At the fancy party he meets Harper, his new step-sister. The sparks between them almost burn the place down. One night together or just a little time and their world\’s are linked together without them realizing it. Harper knew a little about Eric but she didn\’t think he would have the control over her mind and body as he does. When they spend a little time together at the party and he leaves, she feels the loss. He makes her feel alive while the rest of the Kingston men are slimy and she can\’t stand to be around them. She has to stay at Kingston Motors to save her own fathers legacy. Years later she goes to Eric for help to save the family business. She tries to convince him she isn\’t using him but she doesn\’t tell him everything. Eric came back to save Harper and bring her back to New York but he feels as if she is holding something from him. Wow, I absolutely hate cliffhangers and should have done my research on this before I got it, as I now have to wait 2 months!! I don\’t read cliffhangers for this extremely frustrating reason…. all said, this book is extremely good, it took some thinking whilst reading it, and I got to a point where I was actually questioning my own intelligence… Eric is an extremely intelligent man, and at times I struggled to keep up with him, but when I came to the crunch, I couldn\’t put this book down. So if you are like me and do not like cliffhangers, definitely wait until the next book come out to read it

Now, you know when you\’re a reader of LRJ\’s work that she is invariably gonna leave you with one helluva cliffhanger when you\’re at the end of a book in a duet or trilogy, but even knowing that it\’s gonna happen, I\’m still a hairs breadth from chucking my kindle at a wall when it does!!! That said, the build up to this CH was one hell of a ride. I FLOVED The Bastard. We\’d met Eric Mitchell in the Dirty Rich series as he is the friend and colleague of Grayson but it was great reading his own story. Eric and Harper have a history but haven\’t, for various reasons, seen each other for a lot of years. Will their attraction be the same, will the Princess still want the Bastard or is there an ulterior motive to her reaching out to him?? As we\’ve come to expect with the recent books in the Dirty Rich series from Lisa Renee Jones The Bastard was packed full of intrigue, mystery, twists and turns, twisted loyalties, secrets and lies and of course heat, sexual tension and some serious down and dirty times. I was gripped from the very first page and literally got no sleep as I could not put this book down. Just as I thought I might have a tad of an idea about what was going on or who might be doing what another spanner was thrown into the works and I was turned around yet again! Ms Jones is one helluva story weaver and I know going into one of her stories that it\’s gonna be a rollercoaster ride of emotions and feelings and that I\’ll feel like I\’ve been through the wringer by the time I\’m done – it\’s fabulous!!! I cannot wait to see how things turn out in The Princess A fanbloodytastic 5* read!!!
