Force of Nature

I have read five or six of C.J. Box books and for me this is the best so far. The plots are interesting and the setting is the beautiful northwest US, Wyoming Montana, Idaho. The thing I Like best about these books are the values which animate the absorbing stories i.e. love of family, friends, nature, country, and independence. The author doesn’t preach. He allows the ch the plot and the characters to illustrate these principles.
Much of this particular book centers around Nate Romanowski a long time friend of Wyoming game warden, Joe Pickett. Nate is a highly skilled, ex special forces soldier who lives off the grid. He is an exceptionally interesting character and in this book we learn how and why Nate came to be Nate.
I am retired law enforcement. Now that I have the time, reading for pleasure, as opposed to work, is one of life’s great joys. This author’s work offers a bit of an antidote to the corrupt circus that parades throughout much of society and is reflected in our “fall of Rome” culture.

This is the best book that I’ve read so far by CJ Box in the Joe Pickett series. The book though is really more about Nate Romanwoski, his friend, who is being pursued by an ex Special Forces leader because of an event in February, 1999. Nate knows what happened, and if he tells, then this rogue Special Forces leader’s career will be toast. He doesn’t like that, and he is a brutal individual who will go to all ends to make sure that doesn’t happen. From the very start, this story pulled me in and kept me interested right to the exciting and violent conclusion.

I love this man! He writes with incredible detail and yet it is never too much. He has such a sense of the land and those living there as well as insight into human nature. I have read over 20 of his books and I want to read 20 more!

Just finished this book. The story of Nate and what made the man is incredible! This character is so tough, and when it is required, is totally without empathy or mercy. The loyalty and protectiveness he shows to his true friends (i.e. Joe Pickett) or his birds is totally opposite of the stone cold assassin he can turn into at a moments notice. Love the Pickett novels! Great reading. Addictive!

Another solid read in CJ Boxs Joe Pickett. In some ways this is a sequel to where the action left off in Cold Wind. It also could be read as a stand alone novel because it features Nate Romanowski more. Quick pace, solid plotting. Enjoyable read!
