I was looking for some southern comfort relaxed and enjoyable reading about an incredible lady. Some of the book was enlightening and showed what an intelligent, talented, genuinely good person Dolly is; but, then Smarsh had to inject a bunch of unnecessary Trump bashing that totally ruined a good book. It’s going in the burn pile. Money totally wasted!!! If I could give less than one star…

This book is about Sarah Smarsh. She talks plenty about Dolly Parton, but only in the context of Sarah Smarsh’s memories. Who is Sarah Smarsh and why would I want a Sarah Smarsh filter on Dolly Parton stories? Who cares and you wouldn’t.

Audiobook She Come By It Natural by Sarah Smarsh
Very well written analysis by a person who has lived the songs and understands the woman. As a person with very eclectic musical tastes and experiences I always liked her music but then I read an article about her, I think it was in Esquire in the70’s, could have been Playboy, not sure and I do not remember the names of the sorry-assed male duo who wrote it and tried to make her look like a country bumpkin and made fun of her for liking meatloaf and chocolate milk but I do remember at the end of the article thinking to myself “Dayammm, that is one really smart woman!” She has not disappointed in that department and over the years my respect and admiration for her has grown. I love how she understands that humanitarianism is the true basis of real Christianity. Love her quips, jokes and come backs. She is truly a national treasure.

I think Dolly Parton is a phenomenal individual. However, while this book is a compliment to her, the author is all over the place and redundant. I think the book is not as described and definitely could have been better edited.

I wish I would have read about the book better or more or??? It was more about the author then about Dolly so I was VERT disappointed and threw it away!
