I preordered this book as soon as I saw it was available as I have enjoyed this series so much. This book was as good as the previous ones and a great love story between Gavin and Cait. Gavin is a fireman and Cait is EMT. Their paths cross often and she is attracted to him but they kind of get off on the wrong foot and he is annoying to her. Until they are involved in the same fire and rescuing someone. She has a new respect for him and ask him out to breakfast. I loved them together and found them to both be strong characters and giving to each other. Cait is very involved with her mother and brother and is living with them to help them out but this can be an issue between her and Gavin. What I really like about this book and series is the family atmosphere and respect that the fireman have for each other. The bonds are tight and the author gives us glimpses of what it is like around the firehouse. First responders are a special group of people who want to serve their community and to take care of each other. The author has done her research and it shows in this series. Now have to wait until September for the next book. Highly recommend this book and series.

Hot Response audiobook in series Boston Fire
Gavin is the youngest on Ladder 37 and was not out to really look for a relationship, but was not stopping it from happening either. Gavin has always noticed Cait the gorgeous EMT but they seem to have a friemies relationship. She always seems to be short with him and he always has a smile ready to go for her. After an encounter on the job, and after some words were said, Cait goes to apologize and Gavin and her kinda mend the fences so to speak. Eventually they meet up again and sparks fly! Cait has a lot on her plate after her stepfather passed away. She comes to stay with her mom and younger brother to help them heal and get back to normal. However they always seem to need her and she always makes sure she is available to them. Even at the cost of her growing relationship with Gavin. The two spend more and more time together. They meet each other’s parents and friends. But is what they have enough to fix the crack that forms after one night at Cait’s mom’s place. Things are said that can’t be unsaid. Are they words that will destroy this growing relationship? Can Gavin let Cait be there for her family but make sure she makes time for them? Can Cait move on from her family needing her all the time and make time for herself and her life and be happy? Shannon knows how to write characters that I just fall in love with. All the main characters and reoccuring ones from previous books. There is a lot of character depth, humor, tugs on the emotional strings, and steamy romance. Perfect combo for a great read!

Audiobook Hot Response by Shannon Stacey
Once again, a realistic evolution of a couple getting together – Cait resents him (I hesitate to call it “hate” or “enemies” because it’s her issue, and his formal habit that cause the schism) and Gavin has no idea why. It’s later cleared up. Cait and Gavin are both first responders; driven helpers; caring for their families and friends. And of course, they live in Boston/Greater Boston (which makes me wonder what neighborhood, but maybe that doesn’t matter because rents are sky-high in that area, housing even worse!). Anyway! While I love the setting and seeing characters from earlier books in the series, their interactions are fun. Cait has a razor wit and he’s right back atcha. Honestly, you can’t lose with reading this series. Wonderful characters, well-paced stories, realistic progressions, terrifically sketched out secondary characters. This is *well-written stuff*!

Audio Hot Response narrated by Tatiana Sokolov
The author created a book that held my interest, but then created more questions. It had very little friction and ended so easily that it was a bit frustrating. For example, the instant lust overload; Gavin gives Cait, the woman his is barely getting to know, his place for the night and the next day immediately they are intimately together. I enjoyed the interaction of them with their families, but it left out when Cait met his mom and details that would have enhanced the read. Additionally, the lack of editing was so distracting that it kept me from enjoying the flow of the book as I toiled through incorrect wordings, pronouns and grammar.

I just absolutely loved this book! It was probably my favorite in this series. Gavin and Cait didn’t particularly like each other in the beginning but I think it was more they couldn’t face their feelings at that time. When they get together it’s a couple you know are meant to be an can understand each other and the emotions they face every day being a first responder. Absolutely loved their banter and just the respect they for each other
