THE EVENING AND THE MORNING audio
The fourth book of the series by Ken Follett brings forward three characters associated with the different departments of life. The first character to appear on the scene happens to be a young boy who is skilled in the art of building boats. He and his family were earning finely until the Vikings invaded their village and threw them out of their home. Having no shelter and food supplies the family moved on to a nearby land where they got a place to live but the people there were not very welcoming.

Also, the profession of boat building was not very appreciated in that new village. The second character introduced by the author is a woman who after marriage moves to the village of her husband. At the time of marriage, the girl was very enthusiastic about her new life but when she entered the village of her husband all her dreams were ruined. The village was a battleground where men fight constantly for the higher position, thus the life and property of no man is safe.
The last one narrated by John Lee is a monk who tries to make his village an ideal place for education but there is a bishop standing in the way of his dream. All the characters are captivating like those we heard about in The Pillars of the Earth and World Without End. The author has a tendency of introducing many characters at a quick pace and then later he mixes their stories and brings it to one single path. Every character’s story gets a separate conclusion but it also remains a part of the bigger picture too.
