Not for me. Had I known it was just a book trying hard to get a laugh I would not have bought it. There were a few amusing bits but he is trying too hard and he is certainly not a writer

Romesh Ranganathan is 42 and in this book he muses over the meaning of life. Any other comedian / television personality / author would have instantly have made a connection with Douglas Adams and tirelessly observe the hilarity of their age with the answer given by super computer Deep Thought in 1980 cult sci-fi novel about a cosmic hitchhiker. Romesh Ranganathan is far too cool for this and instead his cultural references are Marvel movies, Arsenal Football Club, designer sneakers and, of course, hip hop. He describes what it is like to be a middle aged man in Crawley who has a loving wife, three sons and a bossy mother who morphed from a maths teacher to an instantly recognisable TV celebrity. Similar to Straight Outta Crawley, this new book is organisaed into shortish chapters where he riffs on themes such as relationships, food, music and his thoughts on lockdown 2020 resulting form the coronavirus pandemic. If this is as good as it gets, it is very god indeed and, like Romesh’s first book, I love it. 5 stars.

Audiobook As Good As It Gets by Romesh Ranganathan
Read a lot of autobiography and really appreciate it when authors are being honest, especially when they are funny at the same time.
Note to Romesh: That Playstation and 3D Google set wasn’t for your children, it was for yourself !

Audio As Good As It Gets narrated by Romesh Ranganathan
Being of the same age as Romesh I found this a very relevant and funny book to read as we have a similar moral consciousness compass to a number of aspects of life. I found this book very entertaining and at times I had to let out a rather strange noise akin to laughter as I recalled the fact that…I do that!!! Like sniffing the crotch to decide on appropriate trousers selection and my utter inability to retain even basic information which leads me to be massively reliant on the kindness of others to enable me to function at times. This is a book about observations on life in Romesh’s own unique, honest, self flajulating(Im aware thats probably not actually a word) style. For me I loved it and found it very accessible and enjoyable to read. Almost a bit like having a crack with your mate in a pub.

If you like Romesh, just stop reading the reviews now and buy the book! You won’t be disappointed! I loved how honest and unedited the book is. It wasn’t a series of stories told in a way to cater for everyone. What it is is an honest review from Romeshs point of view. His anecdotes had me laughing out loud so many times that I lost count of my belly laughs! I am definitely going to read his first book now, I shamefully missed it first time round! 5 out of 5 from me!
