Three keys is the second thrilling installment to the Front desk series. Weaving in emotion, joy and pure writing talent, the author takes us on a whirlwind of adventure. Front desk and Three keys both adress real-world problem, such as unfair immigration laws, race, discrimination and more in a way that people of all ages can enjoy. It\’s a beautiful, touching story that I related so much to. I recommend Front desk and Three keys a lot. If you aren\’t reading it, you\’re missing out. Suitable for all ages, but seems to be directed to middle schoolers. Have a great read! (bookworm\’s way of saying have a great day)

I just love Kelly Yang books! Three Keys, continuing The Front Desk series was superior in every way! Mia, Lupe and Jason traverse life and school and friendship drama all the while growing while suffering indignities simply because they are immigrants in an election year in California. The bravery of these three middle school students shows as they struggle to navigate life. Mia and her parents have been very successful running the hotel, but her parents are beginning to shows signs of wanting other things, like maybe returning to the kind of jobs they held before coming to America. Mia\’s mom wants to get a credit card while her dad is very much opposed. Mia\’s love of writing takes a hit when the English teacher, Mrs Welch continues to give her Cs on her writing assignments. Lupe\’s mom has to return to Mexico when her mother dies, what will happen when she tries to return? Jason wants to be Mia\’s friend but Lupe does not like him. Jason wants to be a chef but his father does not see this as a viable career option. Even worse for the three friends is the governor running for office again promising immigration reform, much to Mia and Lupe\’s shock! Yang is a gifted author who writes with honesty, sincerity and grit with well developed characters and plot. I could not put this book down, I loved every word and rooted for the families of Mia and Lupe, even Mr. and Mrs. Yao! A must read—as all Kelly Yang books are!!!

Audiobook Three Keys (Front Desk #2) by Kelly Yang
Read this book (and Front Desk) to my kids and everybody was so into it! It was a great way to talk about concepts like implicit bias and how hard it is to be an immigrant in America. It’s not an overly preachy book, which I appreciate. It wasn’t like I was forcing a “lesson” book on the kids – just an enjoyable story.

This book is amazing! It is very realistic and the plot is well set up. The characters are well thought out and the settings are great! If you do not read this, that means you\’re missing out. Also IF I could give this six stars-I would! What isn\’t to love. I am counting down the days until Room To Dream, the next book, comes out! Ms Yang…please make Room to Dream kindle unlimited! That way, myself and millions of other people will be able to enjoy your book for free. I cannot afford your book if it is not kindke unlimited. That would be a pity and I am sure other people will feel bthe same. I love Front Desk and this book SO much! And I think that I will also love Room To Dream 🙂 Please consider making it kindle unlimited! With gratitude, Bookworm
