Ms. Roy has an eye for understanding undertows of facism and greed that threaten to pull democracies under waters tyranny. Her analysis can be applied beyond the borders of India.

Arundhati Roy is one of the of brave truth-tellers of our time; I was anxious to get my hands on this book, and purchased it as soon as available, even though my usual style is to wait until used or paperback versions are available. My experience is complex. I deeply respect her perspective, her role as an awakener around fascism in India– so intimately connected to authoritarianism in and of the West. However, the essays (mostly lectures) in this collection feel hastily collected, at times redundant. This book is great for a die-hard Roy fan who must fill out a collection of all her printed works. But there is nothing here to blow your hair back if you already follow her lectures, her past essays, her journalistic pieces and various interviews. That said, my appreciation of her work and continued engagement as a human and writer is profound and steadfast; I\’m glad I purchased it if for no other reason than as a vote for her to continue to write and think and share with us the fruits of her imagination.

Audiobook Azadi by Arundhati Roy
A highly informal series of essays that deal with India’s decent into totalitarianism as well as the rise of authoritarian fascism on the world stage. Roy is a foremost intellectual and this series of essays is essential reading for those willing to confront, challenge and understand fascism in the 21st century.

Audio Azadi narrated by Shaheen Khan
Painfully went through the incoherent content of this book, which is spectacular for its dishonesty of the author. Arundhati Roy has become a Hit-job writer, who has sold her pen to ISI of Pakistan while propagating the Pakistani agenda. The concoction of Hindu Hatred, Communist ideology, Islamic leaning mindset and paid writing has arrived in the name of this book. I will not recommend this book for any one, because it will be sheer waste of money and time. Please save your money to buy a better Toilet paper instead !

I read the sample pages from neutrality standpoint but this book seems to me so poorly penned down with so much bias imbibed in it. Utterly poor protrayal of writing skills and desperate selfish attempt to gather attention by promoting hatred against establishment in pity attempt to just score some brownie points for book. This type of journalism is extremely dangerous owing to it\’s potential to provide factually incorrect impressions about ground situations targeted for unaware readers.
