I spend so much time on Amazon looking through books that claim to be fantastic, by end up coming short by the second or third book. This is definitely not the case. \”Pandora\” has grown so much as a character, all while remaining her quirky self. She remains a fierce female character that continues to grow her strength instead of becoming helpless and relying on her mate. The only two things I wasn\’t a super huge fan about was that in the previous books, Jace Fireswift was a companion character of sorts and he basically got booted out of the story except for about 3 pages. We traded Jace out for a character that betrayed Pandora previously. In all, Jace should have stayed because we finally warmed up to him and he gave Pandora ( a bit of ) competition. Secondly, the book has become more of \”Let\’s fight evil\” and less about racing the clock to level up Pandora\’s powers to save her brother. All in all, I can\’t wait to buy the new book and see how the story progresses. If I only have two things to dislike out of a series that already has five books, then it is fabulous. I am a bit of a critic when it comes to long series and normally have to stop after the second or third book. This series is addicting and I can\’t stop. SO BUY THIS BOOK NOW!

****Contains some minor spoilers**** I did enjoy Shifter\’s Shadow. However, it\’s also the worst book in the series to date. It was ok for the first half at least, maybe the first 75%. But then that awful ending. The entire mystery of the book, who the bad guy is, how they did what they did, even how the problem was resolved – EVERY SINGLE THING – is done through exposition. The main characters all stand around in a circle in the Black Plains and discuss the bad guy (who is also part of the conversation), why they did it, how they did it, their history, how they can stop and so on a so forth. The entire climax was conversation! Incredibly anti-climatic after the build up of the book and frustrating as a reader, as there was no way what was going on could have been figured out from dropped clues. In the last book I realized this series has great potential, but Summers was just skating over the top of a great story. In this one I think we flew over in an airplane without touching down. This is the last book I\’m going to read so I can still think of the world and characters fondly.

Audiobook Shifter’s Shadow (Legion of Angels #5) by Ella Summers
This book starts off right where the last one left off. It hits the ground running and never stops. What the blurb talked about would be a whole novel for some authors but not here! It\’s just one part of the novel! This feels like a transition book from where we go from solving the immediate crisis to starting to see the much bigger picture that has been hinted at start to come into focus. I love that now that Lena and Nero made the decision to commit to each other, there is no second doubts, just a wonderful partnership. And such a great team they make. We also seem more of and learn more about quite a few characters. A must read for those who have enjoyed the series to this point. I do recommend you get a hold of the short story Twelve Dancing Angels either before or after you read this story as it is referenced. It will not hinder your enjoyment of the novel if you haven\’t read it, but it does increase your enjoyment of a few portions.

Shifter’s Shadow takes place right where Dragon’s Storm ends with the BIG surprise. Leda and Nero are now officially a couple in this one. I’m happy that they are finally together, but that doesn’t mean things will go smoothly. In Shifter’s Shadow we get Nero’s promotional test, the Gods Trial, and he has picked Leda as his second. Lets, just say this test isn’t easy and what the Gods expect Nero to do is down right upsetting and sad, but these two always find away to work around the rules and bet the odds. As you can guess we get to meet the Gods and Goddess. Can’t say I’m a fan. Their seams to be things going on that only a slit few know about; a war amongst the gods and of course the issue with the demons. Not only do we meet the gods, but we get more surprises in the supernatural world that I didn\’t see coming. Leda has leveled up again and gets to lead her own team on a mission, while Nero stands by and observes. Leda is a fun character to like. She’s sarky, kick ass, and knows what to do in situations. She keeps her cool and keeps everyone on her team alive. Ms. Summers has done a wonderful job in her world building, character development, and bringing in something new to each additional installment. Legion of Angels is a fantastic series. I’m hooked. Each installment brings me something new to love. It’s been a while since I’ve found a series that has pulled me in and made me want to read one book after another. Now that I’m done with book five, Shifter’s Shadows, I’ll have to wait for book six, since it’s not out yet. Rated: 4 Stars

This series is so much fun! I really enjoy it and I am already ready to reread this book (and maybe book 4 too). While the series is not perfect, there are a few plot holes if you really think about it, and if you plotted the events on a timeline, things happen really quickly and closely together. Sometimes I wonder if the characters ever sleep!?! That being said, I really have enjoyed this series and its characters. I think that Ms. Summers\’ writing improves with every book, and I LOVE Leda\’s sarcasm and spunk!!! I appreciate that these books are mainly action books without too much introspection and relationship drama. I always look forward to the next one!
