A good solid read with many interesting and sometimes interconnected characters. Beautiful travel descriptions as well as philosophical observations of the human condition especially the M/M ones. Wonderful stories.

This the second of the fantastic Seville Trilogy helps all of us understand that love is love and it doesnt really mater, gender or nationality. It my opinion that Anthony understands what life is all about and we can learn about ourselves by reading what he writes.

Sequels rarely equal prequels, but Along the Stars surpasses its predecessor. Roughly twelve years have passed since the end of Orange Bitter, Orange Sweet. Borkja and James are still a couple now living in England, where the former is about to become a qualified pilot, and James is a theatre manager. A death in the family calls Borja home to Spain where he learns an interesting revelation from his younger namesake. Meanwhile young Nick appears on the scene and smouldering relationship occurs between him and James. Then Borka meets Andy which adds complications to his personal life, as well as the implications of James’ relationship with Nick. A subplot between Alexa who is in love with Mark adds to the intrigue.
Characterised by beautiful writing, Along the Stars is humourous with the flamboyant Neville, exciting as Borka and Andy attempt to land the plane at Malaga and full of romantic tension as the various characters play out their relationships.
As with all Anthony McDonald’s novels their are vivid descriptions of the counties and their culture where the characters are found, as well as, in this novel, fascinating accounts of flying, theatre productions and inter-personal relationships.
We eagerly await Anthony’s next novel.
