Going Off Script: How I Survived a Crazy Childhood, Cancer, and Clooney’s 32 On-Screen Rejections

This is not normally the genre of books I read, but I needed something different and thought “what the heck?” I was pleasantly amazed to find that Giuliana is quite a good writer. She writes in a very upbeat, humorous, sarcastic and matter-of-fact way that is very easy to read. Unlike a few other celebrity memoirs I’ve had the displeasure of reading, it is not crass, the grammar is good and she doesn’t spend chapters and chapters extolling her own virtues or feeling sorry for herself. You get a good sense of who she was at various stages in life. As a fan of her reality show, it was interesting to read about what she was really thinking and feeling at certain times. It is refreshing to read a book written by a woman whose hard work, determination and positive attitude has gotten her where she is today.

I really loved this book. Giuliana is very open, honest, and candid throughout the entire book and it was interesting to read about her public life through her own perspective. The book spans her entire life, from her birth in Italy right up to her current life in LA/Chicago. If you’re a Giuliana Rancic fan you will definitely enjoy reading her book, there were parts where I laughed out loud, and parts where I had to hold back tears, it was just that well written.

I watched her reality show and I watch E! News at times so I was curious about the book. I wasnt too crazy about her and she annoyed me a little but after reading this book, Im a fan!

Giuliana and her family are one of a kind! She is super fun and hilarious! The encounters between her and her parents had me busting out laughing especially when she, tried to boil Richard!! Just read the book and you will know what I am talking about.

I love how tight and close her family is and no matter what she did good or bad her family had her back 100%…even after she cursed out her drivers examiner!

I also loved how she described Italy and the culture. Every event is a party! Her detailed descriptions made me feel like I was there. This book was inspiring, fun and a page turner. Congratulations to you girl! You made it and Leo missed out. *wink!

So great. I have read my fair share of bios and auto bios both in Hollywood, politics, and just plain old folks — this was great. Guiliana can write. She’s also selective in what she chooses to share, not share, and elaborate on why these events are clearly important (or not) in her life. I have always been a fan of her and her extremely foxy hubby, but after thus witty, honest, and raw portrayal of how life can even bite those in la la land in the butt I’m all in. LOVE you G!!

I read the whole thing on my 3.5 hour flight to Vegas. The people in my row must have thought I was on something because I went from laughing one chapter to a single tear a few chapters later. I’ve watched her shows and read articles from non-tabloid magazines so I’m familiar with her story but there was so much more to learn and understand. G&B are so dynamic and unique. It would be great if bill wrote a similar book and went down the same path so we could see their relationship from his perspective. Bill grew up in a marvelous family from humble beginnings as well.
