As a content creator who values thoroughness, I must say that this book review provides a detailed and insightful perspective on the third installment of the “Dewey Andreas” series. It is evident that the reviewer is a fan of the author’s work and the particular series. They express gratitude to their sister for introducing them to it.

In this book, Dewey Andreas once again takes center stage as he becomes the savior of the world, specifically Israel, by thwarting an insane plot devised by leaders in Iran. The plot involves sneaking an atomic bomb into Tel Aviv via water, while simultaneously capturing the grandson of Golda Meir, an Israel Special Forces leader who had previously saved Dewey’s life. The review touches upon the brutality and violence of the villains, who are willing to execute innocents and perpetrate atrocities.

The reviewer highlights the reluctant response of the U.S. government, led by a misguided and weak president, which is unwilling to take decisive action against these heinous acts. However, Dewey, driven by a sense of duty and friendship, takes matters into his own hands by forming a special unit to rescue his friend and prevent the mass destruction not only of Israel but also of Iran itself. The potential for Israel’s retaliation is emphasized, given their possession of many nuclear weapons compared to Iran’s single workable bomb.

The review commends the non-stop action and excitement throughout the book, acknowledging that it might require some suspension of disbelief from the reader at times. Nevertheless, the overall premise of the story is deemed believable, as it doesn’t rely on clichéd plots involving super-secret evil scientists but instead portrays regular, albeit evil, individuals.

In summary, the review is comprehensive and provides specific examples of the book’s plot and character dynamics, allowing potential readers to gain a deeper understanding of the story’s essence. The reviewer successfully balances their personal fondness for the series with an objective evaluation of its strengths and weaknesses. Overall, it effectively conveys the book’s appeal to readers who enjoy action-packed and intense thrillers, set in a world that mirrors real-life geopolitical tensions.

The Last Refuge audiobook

Ben Coes once again delivers a captivating Dewey Andreas adventure in his latest work, and I eagerly anticipated its release for months. True to my expectations, the book did not disappoint, and I found myself engrossed in its pages, turning them eagerly.

The story begins when Dewey Andreas, a former SEAL and Delta operative, receives a message to meet Kohl Mier, an Israeli Special Forces commander, in New York. Dewey, grateful for Mier having saved his life in a previous mission, needs no persuasion to accept the meeting. Mier’s Special Forces unit had rescued Dewey when he was betrayed and handed over to terrorists, leaving a strong bond between the two.

The plot thickens when Mier, while visiting the family of a fallen comrade from the aforementioned mission, gets kidnapped by Iranian operatives and transported to Iran for imprisonment and trial. This sets the stage for a gripping narrative that follows.

Ben Coes skillfully weaves a masterful tale, providing vivid descriptions of Iran and its neighboring countries. His attention to detail regarding weaponry and machinery adds an authentic touch to the story. Additionally, the author displays finesse in character development, avoiding gratuitous and continuous sexual encounters in favor of building a compelling love interest.

As the story unfolds, Andreas uncovers the horrifying truth that Iran’s leadership has acquired a nuclear device. Their intentions extend beyond executing Mier through a firing squad; they also plan to detonate the nuclear weapon in Israel. This revelation intensifies the stakes and propels the plot forward.

Coes keeps the reader engaged throughout the narrative, maintaining tension and suspense until the very end. The unfolding events are well-told and lead to a satisfying conclusion, leaving readers thoroughly satisfied with the journey they’ve undertaken alongside Dewey Andreas.

In a captivating side event, the Mossad’s approach to handling Iran is reminiscent of Moses and the Pharaoh. The consequences of keeping the grandson of Goldie Mier as a prisoner mirror the historical tale: every day the Iranian Republican Guard keeps him, they suffer significant losses.

In conclusion, Ben Coes delivers another outstanding thriller in this Dewey Andreas adventure. The well-crafted story, compelling characters, and skillful narration make this book a true page-turner from start to finish. It’s a must-read for fans of action-packed espionage and political thrillers.

Audiobook The Last Refuge by Ben Coes

This book was an absolute thrill to read! One aspect that truly captivated me was the strength and determination of all the characters. After a somewhat disappointing experience with “Coup d’état” following the strong start of “Power Down,” I was pleasantly surprised by the evolution of this third installment. Ben Coes skillfully brings Dewey and the secondary characters to life, making them feel remarkably real and believable.

The introduction of Meirs, the Israeli soldier, adds a compelling layer of grit and authenticity to the story. This remarkable character practically leaps off the page, engaging the reader in every scene. The depth and complexity Coes infuses into the characters make the narrative all the more engrossing.

Overall, “Power Down” sets the stage for an outstanding and gripping read. The well-developed characters and their unwavering determination make this book a highly enjoyable and immersive experience. For fans of action-packed and character-driven thrillers, this book is undoubtedly a must-read.

Audio The Last Refuge narrated by Peter Hermann

As a fan of this series, I must admit that I thoroughly enjoy it. However, I can’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment that not all of the books in this series are available on audio CDs. It would be fantastic to have the entire collection accessible in this format for the convenience and enjoyment of fellow audiobook enthusiasts like myself. Despite this minor setback, I still find immense pleasure in immersing myself in the stories that are available in audio format.
