This book was the perfect mix of Vampires, Werewolves, Shape Changers, Panthers, Witches and Fairies. This book begins with Sookie and Bill still broken up and Bill had to leave for Peru. Meanwhile Eric is spell bound and cannot remember anything and Sookie is responsible for keeping him hidden until his tribe can figure out whom cast the spell. Well while being in Sookie ‘s care Eric reveals a more sincere side versus his normal GQ over the top normal personality and one thing leads to another and Sookie’s brother is missing. So Eric and Sookie turn into the arms of one another. So if you love intrigue, mystery, murder and a little romance this is a must read for you.

Dead to the World audiobook in series Sookie Stackhouse
Books 1-3 were just ok to me. Sookies naivety gets old quick. I think one line at the end of book 2 was that she needed assistance from a stranger to use a pay phone, having never seen one in her 26 years? But I keep reading because I liked the True Blood series, and I wanted to see the differences between the two, especially the differences involving Eric because his confidence and swagger in the series made him my favorite character. His one liners were the best. This book has been my favorite so far. Its quite a bit steamier, which is a plus, and the last paragraph and sentence of the book were so totally Eric that it makes me really want to read book 5, just to see where they go from here.

Dead to the World audiobook by Charlaine Harris
This one was probably my favorite book of the series. I was never a fan of Bill, for good reason, so I liked Sookie throwing caution to the wind and enjoying a relationship with Eric. She deserves it after all that stupidity in the last book. I don’t care that Eric’s usually a jerk, at least he’s honest (and gorgeous on the show). Readers get to see a whole other side to him in this book, which is very likable and vulnerable. Without giving away too much detail, this book has a lot of action, in more ways than one. As usual, there are two different problems going on at the same time. I’m a little dumbfounded by the fact that the supernatural issues take precedent over own personal problems. But she isn’t bothered by it so I guess I shouldn’t be either. This is where the show and books part ways – the books at least stay decent after this… the show become unwatchable.

Dead to the World audio narrated by Johanna Parker
Eric Northman, gorgeous Viking vampire, and Shreveport-based Sheriff of area five, finds himself camping out with Sookie Stackhouse. As ever, Eric has carnal knowledge of the waitress with a disability (telepathy) in mind.
Sexual tension remains high with Alcide, a werewolf from Shreveport. Her ex, Vampire Bill has gone to Peru on an assignment from the vampire Queen of Louisiana, and her brother Jason is missing.
A little more lively, and even more characters appear in this book of the series, but it seemed to be lacking the spark of the previous instalments in the series. Still, Sookie remains a fiction favorite !

The headline says it all. These are cute, quirky little books that are fun to read and pass time with. They are very enjoyable. The weird thing is, the HBO show doesnt stray that far from the books (at least at this point), but is still completely different. I kept asking myself how that could be and the answer is time. The books have more fun. Sookie and the rest of the cast have so much more personality, are so much more playful. Overall, not a bad read.
