Trumps of Doom

The Kindle version includes the prologue of Merlin’s trip through the maze of Chaos, the Logrus. Zelazny was in fine form on this all-too-short return to Amber.

“It is a pain in the ass waiting around for someone to try to kill you.” Indeed it is.

Where are the remaining volumes in Merlin’s story? Let’s get those published ASAP.

I read this book because I’ve been reading the original five books in the series through Courts of Chaos over and over since the 1970’s. Wonderful books, all of them. I was sorely disappointed when I read Trumps of Doom. From the very beginning, it was like someone else wrote the book. Trumps of Doom is not nearly as good, and I’m not wasting my money on the rest of the series. I gave 3 stars for “ok”. If I hadn’t paid good money for the book, I’d have never finished it.

I love all these books and read them years ago in hardback, but the electronic versions of all five of Merlin’s Chronicles are filled with typos and errors. If you want to read this series, I suggest getting the hard copies!

I’m rereading this after 30+ year’s. I have enjoyed it, I had forgotten alot about the story in that time. It’s been enjoyable to rediscover this adventure. I look forward to the next installment.

More adventures, more backstory about Corwin of Amber, as told by his son Merlin. Great story that shows a glimpse of the mysterious Courts of Chaos, that is filled in by the remaining books in this series.
