Then You Happened

Finally. A book I feel enough about to review. It’s been a while.

I loved this one. I loved Tatum. I loved Jack. I loved the way they were exactly the same and so different. I loved the story. I loved the twist. I loved the pace, right up until the end. That was way too quick. I wish the resolution had the same level of detail, the same care taken as the rest of the story. But the HEA was earned and satisfying.

I picked this up at midnight and finished at 6am. Couldn’t seem to find a place to stop. Hope all y’all love this one, too.

I am such a huge fan of K. Bromberg that I am shocked that I didn’t really enjoy this book. I struggled to finish it and the main reason I don’t like it is I don’t like Tatum. She seems to be incredibly self absorbed and immature and the internal dialogue where she is upset for a zillion reasons about everything got on my nerves. I am used to K. Bromberg’s heroines being stronger than Tatum. I could not figure out what Jack possibly saw in her. I know the towns people were supposed to be the villains, but their portrayal was over the top and thus unbelievable. The book was disappointing but I still am a big fan, you can’t hit a home run every time you’re at bat.

The story held and gripped me from start to finish! It is poignant, a lesson in growth, heartfelt and utterly consuming. I truly loved it and it breathed new life into me and hope for the future. It is so much more than a romance. It is a transformative path that demonstrates that the strength of bonds forged in trauma and loyalty transcend all. It is a story of duplicity, survival, forgiveness of yourself and the healing power of unconditional love.

Reading a well written book is like peeling the pages back on your soul, opening your heart and breathing the words. You become someone else, you feel their pain, their joy, their struggles and the love they experience. You share the characters experiences and sometimes they mirror your own. When that happens, it feels like you are sharing the same soul. Filling your lungs, breathing and growing together. You become one with the character. Author K. Bromberg masterfully breathes life into Then You Happened and into me.

Tate loves hard and Fletcher lied harder. She gave up everything for him and he threw away and squandered all that they had. What do you do when you lose yourself to someone else? To their lies, deception and treachery? What happens when you are then left all alone to clean up the disaster left in his wake? The disaster that you were hidden from, the one that you never knew existed? Even worse, what happens when the whole town is against you and wants you gone?

Know your worth, decide youre boundaries, but first read this beautifully woven story and find yourself submerged in the best of second chance romance that you can read. From the dedication that spoke to me personally to the perfect ending for this story I was transfixed by the authors words.

You can never be lonely while reading a great book. Bravo to Author K. Bromberg, this is a story that will stay with me forever and touch so many people!

Then You Happened is full of so many different emotions that it will overwhelm you, consume you and bring you to your knees.

Jack Sutton is sexy, arrogant and a man on a mission who wont stop until he he succeeds. Fueled by guilt and a promise more or less that he made to his father, Jack finds himself in a place and situation that he should walk away from but for the life of him he just cant.
Tatum Knox is alone. Her lively hood is quickly slipping through her fingers, the life she knew a complete lie and because of that she is an outcast to the people in the town she lives in. She needs help but trust is an issue, and with no trust you are on your own.

Jacks arrogant and cocky attitude has Tatum instantly disliking him and dismissing him like he isnt needed.
Tatum is a beautiful disaster that he just cant walk away from. He manages to get her to change her mind and shows her what it is thats needed to save her ranch and for her business to thrive.
Jack and Tatum are in some ways like two peas in a pod and in others they are chalk and cheese. Both have secrets that they hold close to their chests and both are looking for redemption from past mistakes. Although they have serious issues with each other you can feel the chemistry between them, the pull that drives them closer and closer together as each day passes. With time comes trust and feelings then start to emerge and blossom. But like all things, when the truth is revealed and the trust is broken the effects can be catastrophic.

K. Bromberg has written one her best with Then You Happened. Intrigue and emotion packed with a twist that you wont see coming until the time is right. It will make your heart skip a beat and your toes curl in the best possible way.

Tatum Knox is struggling to keep her ranch afloat. Her lying rat of a husband dies leaving a trail of debts behind him. The towns people hate her. They think shes up her self and far too superior. Her family abandoned her. Shes alone and trusts no one but she refuses to be broken. I adored her spirit. Shes feisty and uncompromising.

Jack Sutton is making good a promise and sees Tatum as his way to right a wrong. Hes determined to save her ranch and make Tatum trust again. Hes easy on the eye and oh so much of a hero.

The story plays out in beautiful photographs. Snaps of horses roaming. A run down farm. A broken fence. Dirty jeans. Dirty hands. Sunsets over pastures. The tears of a woman who owns her wild. I could see them all.

Kristy Bromberg wrote a beautiful book about not giving up, about fighting for yourself, about hope and trust. The not giving up isnt just about not giving up yourself; its about not giving up on others when they are down and need help.

It made my heart happy (after the tears).
