Having been a fan of the POLDARK series on PBS/BBC, I jumped into the first two books and have not been disappointed. Winston Graham really knows how to tell a story and never gets caught in the weeds. His plot moves along quickly and his characters are easy to love or hate. In Book 2, we learn more about Demelza and her marriage to Ross Poldark, we see Ross\’ struggles with the mine and Demelza\’s attempts to reunite Verity with her unrequited love, Captain Blamey. Through these experiences, we see more the life in Cornwall and get to know the supporting players in the story. We feel their happy times and cry at their sad moments. All in all, it\’s a wonderful story and I can\’t wait to get into Book 3, JEREMY POLDARK. The narrator was a bit problematic for me. I listen to books almost exclusively while driving or taking the train; the narrator had a difficult habit of softening her volume at the end of sentences, making it so difficult to hear! I wish the director and producer of the audiobook had taken more care to abate this habit. Otherwise, her voices and accents were good and easy to understand.

Audiobook Demelza (The Poldark Saga #2) by Winston Graham
Held me captive throughout. Winston is an amazing writer, and Corbett exquisite as narrator. Although I believe she tried too hard to sound like a man by over-deepening her voice for many of the male characters, making them sound not really male at all and with little differentiation among them. Trust that our imaginations can carry out the rest if the focus were to remain on narration, rather than having to \”act out\” their voices. One big exception to this is Judd\’s voice: Perfect!

Audio Demelza (The Poldark Saga #2) narrated by Clare Corbett
narration was very good for the female characters. The male parts were irritating to listen to.

So very disappointing this narrator was the only choice. The range of voice throughout goes from a hisss whisper to a low yell . Not so great at midnight. The book itself is excellent. Someday we may get a choice. Thank you.
The narrator is well spoken but can’t voice act for toffee. The emphasis is all wrong and her versions of Ross and Francis sounds more like a Sandi toksvig impression x
