I’m rating “At Home in Mitford,” and “A Light in the Window” five stars although I think they deserve ten stars+ . The Mitford Series through each of it’s books is a beautiful story set in a small town. I love everything about this town and novels. It is a clean book. It is about a town with fascinating characters who are like family. “Mitford takes care of it’s own” – which is something our country currently could learn to do better. If you are yearning for a relaxing book(s) to read about a town that treats each other like family during the pandemic – this is it. There is plenty of action, romance, etc to keep you entertained. This series has 14 books, and when I read the last word on the last page, I will be heartbroken. I may start all over from the beginning. I know I will read this series several times over. Reading a Mitford book is truly like coming home. I recommend the Mitford Series for people of all ages. My Dad loved this series. That is how I started reading this series. It makes me feel close to my Dad. Then after starting “At Home In Mitford,” it became a love affair for life. I can’t praise the Mitford Series enough. It is not to be missed.

This, the second book in the Mitford series, touches the heart in so many ways that you have to go on and read another! A little mystery, a little suspense, a little love, a great character builder. I can’t wait to see what.happens to Dooley and all the others in the next book.

Through his interaction with his parishioners and other townspeople, Jan Karon presents the joys and sorrows, triumphs and defeats common to all people. This author does not shy away from hard truths. Through all aspects of his life Father Tim relies on his faith in Christ to help and guide him.
The characters are well-defined and memorable. And there is romance in the novels.
If you’ve never read the Mitford series, then I suggest that you begin with the first novel At Home in Mitford. I believe you will want to read the entire series.
I highly recommend Jan Karon’s books!

Audio A Light in the Window narrated by John McDonough
To read these books is to become one with the characters. The stories & spiritual insight speak so directly to the lives we live, it’s as if God is continually guiding us to better understanding of what He wants for us. I love these stories.

I have read the entire Mitford series multiple times and have all the books in hardback, but also read the covers off a set of paperbacks. I just started reading them on Kindle and still find the stories to be so fresh and uplifting. They take me to a place I want to live. Can’t wait to start the next book… again!
