Afraid of the Dark

I love the Jack Swyteck series, just finished Blood Money which follows this one. I am now awaiting the new one, hopefully the series will continue. I have already read the last book in the series also, Black Horizon.

James Grippando never disappoints! I was hooked on the first page. As it moved along, the plot became more complicated and I became more interested in finding out what happens next. The ending came a little quick, I would have liked it drawn out a little more. For the most part it was everything I like in a novel. and Jack Swyteck is an awesome character.

This gives insight into a world hard to believe exists though it does… almost hypnotic by nature and extremely dangerous. It shows how the repetition of certain stimuli creates it’s own additions, ruling heart and minds alike. The dark is an open conduit to the loss of self-esteem… respect grows from within.

I love all of Grippando books. Having said that, this one lost a star because of the rushed and complicated ending. I missed not having Theo around too. Oh, I notice in every book you write “ser vice” instead of “service”. Just curious. Is it intentional?

Like all his books, there are neat little twists and turns, but,I was lost in what I thought was the over-detailed story line. Several times I had to go back and recheck things. This is a first for me with a Grippando book, and it made it harder to read. I did keep going to the end, but this was not in the same category as most of his books (I put them in the same category as the “Harlen Coben” type thrillers). In my opinion, this particular book does not rate a 5 star.However, I will keep buying everything new he puts out, because most are 5 star books.
