Chaneys work is enjoyable and an all around good read for this genre. This book in the series, and the other associated series written in Chaneys unique and intriguing universe, share the same theme of improvement to the point of hooking the reader. The stilt of the first books is gone, the character development is more thought out with depth, and the storyline is intriguing. Well done for what I like…possibilities of which all are plausible, but just where will it go is not obvious while connecting with the characters like friends. Although can be read alone, the depth and connectivity comes through if the series is read and in order. Do it, you wont regret it. Check out his FB page of Renegade Readers.

Just like the first two, I devoured this one in slightly more than no time flat, and love where the stories going.

Review #3

Audiobook Blade of the Reaper (The Last Reaper #3) by JN Chaney Scott Moon

This is the 3rd book in the series and it just keeps getting better. I really like Halek Cain, Elise is a typical teenager and pain in the butt and we have picked up some more people to be Cain’s shipmates. In this book Cain finds out more about the mysterious mask that he has taken and about his missing mother and sister. The characters are growing and the plot thickens. I loved the book and would highly recommend it.

Audio Blade of the Reaper (The Last Reaper #3) narrated by Ray Porter

The Last Reaper series takes place in the Renegade Star universe. You do not need to read The Renegade Star series to enjoy The Last Reaper series. I enjoyed Blade of the Reaper and considered it a fun fast read. However, the first four books in The Last Reaper series are not as polished as the Renegade Star books. The manuscripts really needed another once over by Chaney, Moon, and their editor. If you can get past this, it is a fun series.

the Reaper hasn’t diverged – yet – with the main storyline – but all of the Reaper books are a worthwhile read. Chaney is building a masterful story with his excellent penchant for likable characters (you’ll like this one, even though he’s a bit of an ass at times, but you’ll end up rooting for him nevertheless. Definitely worth your time and money. A highly recommended storyline! Shades of Deus-Ex, with a good backstory and a singular personality.
