I am an avid Jack Reacher reader, one who pre-orders the books on my Kindle and generally read them the day they are published, even pulling all nighters. “Blue Moon” read as of Lee Child put his feet up, had a laptop in his lap, and just let it rip. Paragraph upon paragraph of musings, more than usual. An initially credible plot that ultimately devolved into such a preposterous body count it was simply ludicrous. So much repetitive, boring descriptions of streets, alleys, buildings, bars, that I scanned and then skipped pages. Lacking the usual wit and only rarely displaying the banter that typify his books, Jack Reacher in “Blue Moon” is a ludicrous caricature of his character. While he does begin his experience in this novel by observing an about-to-happen crime and then pursues it to inevitable bigger and more complicated ends, it is spoiled by the quantity of people who die as the plot progresses. Worse, there were no surprises. The reason behind the possession of the money which was about to be stolen that triggered Reacher’s involvement was predictible, but is the most credible part of the book, as it is relatable and timely. The It was a total waste of my time to read this book.

Blue Moon audiobook in series Anita Blake
I have read every Lee Child Novel. I wait every year for the next Jack Reacher to come out. I love these books. This was a colossal fail. The premise of a company not renewing health insurance and nobody knew is ludicrous…people have prescriptions, Doctors appointments, emergencies..etc. Not to mention the absolutely unbelievable characterization of the mobsters, hurts my head just thinking about the stupidity of it. Just a massive disappointment.. I want the 14.99 and the wasted 5 hours of my life back!!!

Audiobook Blue Moon by Laurell K. Hamilton
I have read every Jack Reacher novel and generally looked forward to a new release like that of a favorite band or movie. Anticipation and excitement! In this case I got my copy of Blue Moon, grabbed a bag of Fritos and a cold drink and settled in for a good read.
I was slightly hesitant, because the last two Reacher novels were not very good at least not by Lee Childs standards. The parts of Reacher that resonated most with readers had been missing. The last two novels felt like they had been phoned in. I was worried that maybe Jack Reacher had hit the end of the road
I had nothing to worry about it Reacher is back! All of the character traits that made Jack Reacher a great protagonist are back in style. He calculates the physics of a thrown punch. He helps the downtrodden and beats up the bad guys. He prefers sitting in the back seat of cars because hes so big and doesnt like to drive!
Without spilling too much detail, Reacher befriends the Shevicks, an elderly couple who is down on their luck. Theyre in a jam with the worst kind of mobsters and Reacher jumps in with both feet to help them out. In the end, he takes on multiple gangs, wins every fight and gets the girl
Yes, Lee Child has a formula and its a simple one. Make the bad guys bad, the victims sad and put Reacher into the mix. This time he gets a little help from some other bit players, but its mostly Reachers game. The plots are not complicated and there are holes in the story lots of What-ifs if you want to dig deep, but its great summer reading and all the pieces of the puzzle dont need to be perfect for the tale to be told.
I ended up reading most of the book in one evening; the rest the next morning a very satisfying read.
For fans of Lee Child and Jack Reacher, you will enjoy this book!

Audio Blue Moon narrated by Kimberly Alexis
Lee Child has come to the end of the line with Jack Reacher. This book stretches credulity to its limit. Gone is the solitary Reacher using his deductive training to seek answers to nagging questions (like why would someone sell their West Point ring). This Reacher does not reluctantly break someone’s leg when forced to fight. This Reacher is a killer; brutal, savage, remorseless. The body count in this book is at least seventy and the circular firing squads are just unbelievably amateurish. A waitress morphs into a military strategist and a two man band become special ops supporters in slaughtering the bad guys. In the past, most Reacher stories have some plausibility. This plot is totally unbelievable.
I have read that Child is developing a tv series which will be an
amalgam of previous Reacher novels. That may be the best future for his character because this novel suggests that after twenty-five novels, Child has exhausted the soil for developing future plots.
For Reacher fans, don’t waste your money.

Every standard Reacher plot device is back: riding into town on a Greyhound bus, protecting the weak victimized old folks, winning the help and sexual favors of a woman with a glance, taking on the bad guys against impossible odds, triumphing, and riding out of town on a Greyhound bus. This adventure, however, includes the cold-blooded, calculated murder of several of the bad guys, not in the heat of battle or to avoid detection, but after disarming and disabling them. This may be my last Reacher. The books have become increasingly formulaic and dull.
